I live through the effects of untreated ADHD (by untreated I mean using a holistic approach like a combination of coaching, therapy, medications) vicariously through my clients every day. Still these people have to hide their ADHD because of misinformation in the general public.

The problem these types of reports miss is in explaining that the problem is not that ADHDers are not productive or don't want to be; it’s that they could be but because of the stigma of ADHD, they don’t come forward to ask for help from their employers.
Employers, upon seeing such reports, run in a panic because they don’t know that there are things that can be done to help these employees, such as specialized ADHD-friendly productivity training (like The Maximum Productivity Makeover for ADHD Adults), that are not only cost-effective, but could help these employers to retain creative, out-of-the-box thinkers whose ideas and energy could provide them with competitive advantages or solutions to some of the most pressing problems in the world.

As a result of misinformation, it isn't just the ADHDers and their families who suffer, but society as a whole loses an incredible amount of human potential.

Another aspect of Adult ADHD behavior in my experience is that I keep myself intensely busy at work, at home, etc. I am always starting (rarely finishing) new projects, multitasking almost everything and only now in my early 60's beginning to understand what is going on. I look very busy, so rarely does anyone confront me. I feel very busy, so I feel like lots is getting done. And whenever I really see the lack of results I can make myself feel better and more competent by starting new projects. Asking people for help is very, very difficult - either because I have difficulty accepting that I need help; or because others don't believe what I am saying because I look so busy, so involved, so project focused.

I think the title of your post is missing "hard." And, yes, having ADHD can make adults have a hard time at work and at home. Coaching is great but it's not an option for everyone. Lots of websites offer helpful tips on how adults with ADHD can work on modifying their own behaviro. http://adultadhdadvisor.com/behavioral-manage...

Ever feel like no one ever truly understands you? Not even your own doctors? It gets frustrating when half the doctors you go to agree 100% with the diagnosis of adult ADHD while the other half just think your depressed and "like being the victim."
There are so many roadblocks to be overcome, first being finding actual HELP. I honestly feel like no one has any idea what it's like to be truly on one's own with this. Once in awhile someone may try to help, but to those of us with ADHD, the help offered seems like it's high up on a ladder way out of our reach. The help offered is just not geared to our way of doing or seeing things. I hate the thought of needing someone to lead the way, but I can't seem to get anywhere on my own. I know I have potential to do something with my life. I just don't know what that something is or how to get there.
I wish it was better understood.
