Is anybody guide me which preparatory course is useful for self study for international student?

Yaeger is a rip off!

Do not walk -- run from these Bronx/Brooklyn obnoxious, dishonest clowns! They make claims they cannot back up, including their pass rate and refund policies.

Yaeger is unethical and unscrupulous!! They need to take a course in ethics!!

Another 71 is a shill for Yaeger, as he gets commissions for promoting their course.
Take his recommendations with a grain of salt -- he's on the take from the Bronx/Brooklyn shysters!!!

You have it right. That's the best one I've seen so far. I'm not too sure what else there is out there that is worth getting further into.

I took Northern Illinois University's CPA Review with Debra Hopkins. I passed all my exams on the first try. They have online practice quizzes to prepare you for the exam. This program is so up-to-date that they publish their own material quarterly. The price of the course includes the books. You can even take this course from home now that they offer a correspondence courses as well. You get lectures in MP3 format. They have live classes in DeKalb, Naperville, Hoffman Estates and Chicago, Illinois. you can check them out at www.cpareview.niu.edu If you want to pass this is the course to take!
Hi Sam,

I just finished the NIU review course in March. Do you have any suggestions about what kind of study methods you used to prepare? I really want to pass FAR on the first try.

Please email me at [email protected] if you can

Don't buy the 4 parts unless you are commited to pass the exams within a year. They won't let you extend the 12 month period.
9 months ago I paid for the 4 parts, passed 1, then everything at work got crazy, I let the time pass by an now I'm stuck with just 2 months to review all the 3 remaining parts... not good.
Yes the software has many discrepancies, but overall it's good, better than studying by yourself. But I really expected better quality, you have to go to the website to get the updates and re-study what you learned wrong from the CD and book...
You never want to register for all 4 parts because they must be completed within 6 months. I only register one at a time. You can always register for more parts.

I don't think there is a best review course. It all depends on you and how much work you are willing to put in. I have been using NIU and I think it's great because it really does break it down in easy steps.

I would never fork over 2500 to Becker that is a ripoff. I don't even trust their pass rates. I would recommend going to a lesser known review course than something like Becker.

It depends on what study technique works best for you.

I bought Becker but it was a waste of time. They've marketed it well but in terms of helping a candidate understand the material it falls short by a long shot.
All the DVD tells you is what to underline...its a waste of time.

I started using Kaplan and I must say the DVD's are uptodate and very helpful in terms of grasping the subject matter and how best to approach it.

The flashcards and audio files are very helpful and its a third of the cost of Becker. Definitely more bang for your buck and helps you be better prepared.

Most any class live is better than the self-study unless they video tape the actual class. Philadelphia CPA review was started by the two Philadelphia Becker teachers. Philadelphia is the one that everyone uses in the DE Valley. I used it and they video the self-study and the professors are renowned for their experience and knowledge of the exam.

I don't think there is a "best" course. It all depends on how you learn and most importantly your MOTIVATION.

I bought Gleim FAR section for $274 on May 11. Wow! I was truly amazed at their customer service. Gleim has a counselor assigned to each of their customers. The counselor offers his/her client valuable information, such as how to pace study, etc. I tried the first part of online quiz. The questions were excellent. They allow customers to get access to their online materials (which is constantly updated) for 18 months from the date of purchase. Gleim's customer service is amazing compared to Yaeger's. In the summer of 2010, I purchased Yaeger CPA review. IN 2011, the exam format substantially changed. When I asked Yaeger whether they are willing to provide me with updated materials without additional charge, they said No. I tried Weiley books. Oh! The books looked like an encyclopedia. The small fonts made it extra hard to read the books. I tried Bisk books too. I strongly recommend Gleim to you.

How did this work for you? I am considering doing becker and wiley software as well. How similar are the questions in comparison to those on th exam.

Skip the Becker classes, all they do is play the videos, which you can simply watch at home and not deal with the commute. All my friends have used Becker and really like it, except for the Business portion. Go on Ebay for the best price for Becker, if you buy from someone with good feedback you should have no problem, but keep in mind you need the Course CD to make the lecture and data cds work, and the Course CDs can only be uploaded to 3 computers, and expire within a year. So if you buy on EBAY, really read what the auction is for. You need 1. Course Cd 2. Data CD for each portion (multiple choice & simulations) 3. Lecture CD for each portion 4.Book
