Many of us have been asking our teens for years to help us with 'new technology' for years and I continue to help the generation ahead of me. The thing that worries me the most with the slew of young social media savvy workers and 'consultants', is their lack of the other piece of the puzzle - the real world of business. It's not that hard to learn how to use twitter, linkedin and the rest, but keeping on message, understanding goals and measuring success, blending social media into the larger scope of marketing strategy ..., this is where experience comes in handy!
Liked the post though - good to see some back and forth between generations.

The good news for everyone is that engaging social media is very cost-effective and creates a number of new, unexpected, opportunities because of the compound effect of everything that is going on in technology and business today: from mobile tsunami, to social nets, to cloud computing.
Good post.

Great point about blending social media into a marketing strategy. But I think the argument could be made that it is NOT easy to learn how to use Twitter and the others well- takes practice.

Good to see something useful come from all of these social media tools, besides more opportunities to waste time.

At least social media is creating opportunity despite all the annoying things about it.
