My girlfriend and I live in a town house in manhattan, I know, nobody needs to feel sorry for us financially, however I've noticed that ConEd manages to charges us $800-$1500 for electricty $700-$1300 each month, whether or not we are at home or on a trip with everything shut off. I find this mysterious to say the least and I wonder if anyone else is having a similiar experience.

Have them check the wiring. You might be the "house meter" or some other mix-up.

They can perform an audit for you, you should be entitled to a refund of your previous overpayment.

I don't live in Manhattan but I do know that readers do not read every month here. They use an estiamated usage for billing and read only once every three or four months then bill you or refund you.
