Yeah, at the expense of its hard-working employees who have all been shafted.

Exactly! And those who were pushed out of their positions. I don't know how much of a raise I was supposed to get, but since I got the highest score Front End wise, they're saving a pretty penny.

I think the overall trend is not good, though. Our customer count is decreasing, and the ones we have just keep spending more at Walgreens.

Agreed. Half the time it's the "same customer" making a repeat purchase. i.e. Cigarette buyer forgets lighter makes another purchase for a Bic. Customer buys Advil, makes water/whatever is in the cooler purchase. It's all the same "person"/"peopl e" I've been guilty and I work(ed) there. Plus, employees purchases. In the last 2 months, my customer count went down dramatically. On a good day I'd have 30 people for a 7 hour shift.

Haps ~~ WHOA!! Only 30 peeps for a 7 hour shift? In cos I average 90 on a ten hour shift. Even when our front end cashier is old enough to sell beer and wine, my numbers are still up there. I just cruise around and let customers know that I can check them out. Guess I am lucky that I have built a pretty solid customer base -- there have even been days I have wanted to get on the phone to let my regulars know what new products have come in. BTW, I had a call from one of the beauty supply houses wanting to know if I would consider working for them.....hmmmmm. Something to think about.

HEY SHAMPOO lady you might like the beauty supply house but stay at Walgreens because I think they will see the light and start taking cosmetic sales more serious and get moving on fabulous plans for all stores not just wonder walgreens.

You are either in a very low traffic store or you don't understand sales.

Marge ~~ It would be Salon Centric and they are owned by L'Oreal. About the only people I would be dealing with are the local hairdressers and nail techs. I might get too bored.....I am very accustomed to dealing with regular shoppers. The perfect job is making it's way towards me.........

Maybe you should get with it and understand that in the store I was in, if there was no breaker, the cos Dept is told to do breaks and lunches and all breaker duties.

Hapless, Getwithit is clueless and still probably spends the morning fighting for a parking space at corporate since Rebecca took it.

Many times our cos girls had to cover the front because of the same chubby photo pleb that called off 3 times a week plus breaks. I think it's about what kind of SM your store has, mine did not care about Cos. that much only when DM or CL came in for a visit did he pretend it was a imp..

Recently, I met someone who used to sell something else, nothing at all related to cosmetics, and now is a rep for L'Oreal and travels around different retail stores showing the staff the different products and how to use them.

L'Oreal went from $7.7 billion in sales in 2011 to $8.6 billion in sales in 2014. It is the world's second most valuable cosmetic brand in the world. Olay is the first and their sales dropped between 2012 and 2013. Opportunities at such a large company can be considerable. Especially while it is growing. This is one of the main reasons she took the job after interviewing with a VP. She said she will see how it goes but has been very happy with it so far.
