Susan do you know how tall Jay Black is?
I met a guy in a disco once in the 70's
and he said he was Jay from JATA. But
this guy was about 5'6" or 5'7" and Jay
looks like a really tall guy. Just curious.

I live in Las Vegas and I just went down to my favorite hotel-casino,The Suncoast, and bought tickets for my Wife and I to see the greatest singer of my lifetime,Jay Black.I just found out that I got scammed.I will go back tommorrow to take the tickets back cause I never want to hear anybody sing those great songs but the great Jay Black.

I too bought tickets to see Jay and the Americans and was happy that Jay Black IS NOT a part of that group anymore! This new guy Jay Reincke has a great voice and is already thrilling audiences. It's a shame that Jay Black doesn't soung as good as he did 20 years ago, and I wish him all the luck in the world.

So, let me get this straight. You are glad Jay Black isn't with Jay & Americans anymore for whatever the reason. I'm assuming one of the reasons, according to your post, is because he doesn't sing like he did 20 yrs ago. Just as an example, lets use Sinatra for instance. During his waning yrs, he didn't sound like he used to and there were plenty of singers that could sing his songs better, but I'd still pay to see Sinatra and not someone trying to imitate him. Jay accounted for all the of their hits except one and I'd rather hear the original anytime over someone trying to copy his sound. Being a fan of Jay & Americans and not wanting Jay Black to be a part of the group is and oxymoron.

Newsflash>>>>Jay Black hasn't been with the Americans since 1973 and had a successful career until he hit bottom. Its a shame to see a person go through hard times, but in Jay Blacks case his gambling problem was with him for many years and the rest of the group got tired of it and split in 73.

Next time you see Jay Black and he sings She Cried, This Magic Moment, Walking in the Rain and a few others that he is not the ORIGINAL RECORDING ARTIST for those songs. So go see Jay Traynor,The Drifters, and the Ronettes, and you will hear the ORIGINALS that you are talking about A**HOLE.

And to correct you,

Jay Black toured as Jay Black and the Americans until the name was bought in bankrupcy court last year. Jay Black now tours under his own name and the original support group tours as Jay and the Americans.

Jason,
to correct you with all due respect Jay Black toured with a band calling themselves The Americans but they were the support group infringing on the "The Americans" name. Happy New Year to JB Management, Jay Black, Jay and the Americans, JATA Management and all the other fans that keep the music alive.

Peace and Enjoy the music

It seems to me that if Jay Black's group "The Americans" infringed on the name, Then your group "Jay" and the Americans infringes on the name as well. I'm sure everyone will agree that Thanks to Jay Black, The name "Jay" is far more important then the Americans. Anyway, Happy New Year to one and all. Peace.

I think that we should thank Jay Traynor along with Sandy ,Howie and Kenny for the start of this group in the fall of '61. Yes Jay Black had a great career with Jay and the Americans and should be happy that he had the opportunity to be a part of this great group, but if it wasn't for Marty where would David Blatt be today? Jay Black should accept it and be thankful for the opportunity that the Americans have given to him.*****Time to move on*******
