Absolutly the worst most incompetent cutomer service for the worlds lagest Bank they desrve to have to charge off so much BAD debt they incurred the likely hood is that there inability to organize an account accurately and provide EXCELLENT customer service has directly led to there demise,
To bad they had a good thing going being BIG NO.one thay blew it,
They owe me a refund from a closed account I can't wait to see how much interest thay have added to it for holding it all this time

Useless customer service. Citibank is going to lose customers if they continue to use this lousy customer service based on India.

I just applied online for a Citi CC. The online app didn't have anywhere for me to input my actual mailing address, just a physical. Only problem is there is absolutely no way at all to get mail at my physical address. I called customer service, they sent me to the applications department. They congratulated me for being accepted (I already knew I was, but hey a pat on the back doesn't hurt) then applications tells me that they can't change the application and that customer service will receive and issue the card in approx. 5 days. I explain that I'm nervous about a CC going out to an address that doesn't exist and if they can find a way to change it then there will not be a wait. I get passed back and forth between customer service and applications a few times and just give up. This was my first time applying for a credit card. Definately my last with Citi.

I have worked at Citibank for many years. Why you ask? SPITE! I have worked for some of the most incompetent morons you could ever imagine. They don't care about anyone: the customers, the employees, the government who regulates us. You just can't imagine the stupidity at this company. The computer programs don't work; managers earn a fortune and never show up for work; I think they enjoy being morons to tell you the truth. I can''t leave though-I earn a nice salary and have tons of vacation with little supervision. So-my advise-don't ever do business with this company-refinance your mortgage elsewhere, close your bank accounts, close your credit cards and talk bad about this company--they are losers!!!!

I switched to Citibank online thinking it would remove some hassle I was having with my local bank. Not AT ALL!!! They have the worst customer service in the world. The biggest problem I had was when I opened a savings account and they opened two savings account thinking that is what i said. It took them a few months and countless phone call before they closed it. Now I am having a problem downloading transactions from their website into quicken. I stated when I called that quicken was putting the information into the wrong fields. The citibank rep responded with "So if I understand you correctly you would need to verify a check." WHAT IS WRONG WITH CITIBANKS CUSTOMER SUPPORT? The Answer is simple they do not live in America, they are not even familiar with the concept of a checkbook from the conversations, and every response is read from a template.

I recently had a loan with them so I beleive that is how she found the info on me. I beleived she was with BofAM as she said my last 4 social sec #. Then she statrt with Citi Bank. I said I have never heard of it. She demanded I make payment within 3 days. I told her I would not as I know this is not my bill. She became so assy and then I would be receiving papers soon.I have looked at a recent copy of my credit report and I see no mention of this account.I did tell her that it was like close to 20 years and if I did owe it she would not be able to collect. Even if I did owe this, I thought there was a time for them to collect this dept. One that I do not know anything about. I think this is a scam of some kind. Credit reporting agencies say if it is seven years old ther have no right to be contacting me. Anyone know anything about citi banks crap like this happening to them. I mean 20 years ago and they looking for 600.00 bucks. It sounds like you were being scammed by someone. If the alleged debt does not appear on your credit report (check all three major credit reporting agencies), then ignore it. If it does appear, then dispute the debt with the agency who's report it does appear on. The time constraint of the 7 year collection window is not actually a window for them to collect the debt. Thatis the window in which the item previously could appear on your credit history. It is now 10 years since the last activity on the account in question. In your case, the last payment shown indicates 1991, therefore you have definitely surpassed the permissable period in which it can appear on your credit report. I would suggest that you dispute the debt & send a letter of demand to citibank should they continue to claim such a det. The letter of demand basically forces them to provide evidence of an agreement between you & them such as a credit card application, etc. If they cannot produce the original, then they cannot collect on the debt. A photocopy is not admissable in a court of law. Look up the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act for ways to handle harrassing creditors. These are the federal regulations in that which they must follow when attempting to collect a debt.

I am from the uk and travkked around australia where I opened a travellers account. I lost my card and they accidentlly sent it to england. I had to wait another 2 weks for them to send one to australia. Everytime I rang for help they wold tell me to go to the branch-a bit hard when you are not anywhere near sydney, melbourne or brisbane and elsewhere up the east coast. Anyway, back home now and need to get some statements re-issued and a letter drafted to say what addresses they sent stuff too whilst I was in australia. The reason i need this is to proove my address whilst in asutralia. My partner also has to do the same with his banks. He is with ANZ and got what he requested in a week or so. The letters are the going to be used to proove that my partner and I lived at the same address, so he can get a visa to stay with me in the UK(he is from new zealand). I have spent 3 months writing to them, calling them and faxing them and still no look, i am fed up of hearing lookd up of hearing their annoying american sounding accents that just agree with anything you say and keep repeating yes yes i see yes, thank you miss, yes thank you...and then getting no further. I hate them and wish I could make a legal complaint against them. Without proof my partner cannot stay in the Uk with me!

I have been a customer of Citibank for about 10 years. I built of my credit history with them and had a $25,000 credit limit on my credit card. I usually payed off my balances to avoid interest payments. I opened a business two years ago and decided to use a low interest offer from Citibank to fund my start-up costs. Big mistake...Citibank has since cut my limit in half, lost online payments and charged me for anything and everything that they can think of. Calling or emailing customer service is a major waste of time. "Out-sourcing" at it's worst....India or wherever they are based in. They are rude and really don't care about having a happy or satisfied customer. Banks are losing money, because of their greed in the housing / mortgage run....and now they are trying to suck any money they can out of the customers that they relied upon over the past years. I will do whatever it takes to pay off my balance and close my account with Citibank......not that there are any better choices these days...

Notice how there are *NO* compliments of Citibank *GOOD* service?? You'd think there would be at least one... but nothing.
I am a mortgage broker, trying to save someone's housing situation, and needing Citibank to do a very small, simple task. They are doing their best to screw it all up, and will eventually cost my borrower their lock on a loan that would have saved their situation. In a time when the housing crisis is affecting all, when we're trying to fix things - can we afford to have incompetent people involved in our finances?? Do whatever you can to avoid Citibank..... any aspect of them. You who are reading this that work at Citi (esp. if you are higher up on the food chain)- you should be ASHAMED of yourselves. Ashamed. I am sad you are an American company, you embarrass me.

I'm a previous Citi employee.
I quit because they're ridiculous - To employees and to customers.
I worked back office - there were times that the department was so behind that someone wanting to do something like open or close an account would take over a month. And the meetings held were about who said what (drama) instead of "how can we catch up?"
As an employee, I had a checking and a savings account with Citi and was told all fees are waived. Fees were thrown at me like white on rice. Every time I had another fee I would call Customer Service and they said "You need to visit a branch and prove you're an employee." Well I did that... again... and again... and again... Until I said f*** it, I'm closing the accounts.
So I did... or so I thought.
...After continuing to receive statements in the mail for at least 6 months after I "closed" my account (calling EVERY time I received a statement to remind them I don't want the account)...
Anyway, every statement said I had $19 in the account. Then all the sudden after not using either account AT ALL for about a year they started sending statements that I was $23 negative and I owe them that money...
Kept getting those for a while...(They also report everything to credit bureaus immediately...) So that affected my credit as well...
I never paid them. Then they sent me a letter saying "Due to past due amount, we regret to inform you your account will be closed."
... That's pretty much what I wanted in the first place.
Anyway... That's among MANY other things that I saw going on there... I would be here all week if I typed up all the negative on Citibank.

Horrible ,mentally deranged people answering phones. And equally horrible e-service, too.I made a payment from my bank to them, and that took a couple of days, I was soo pissed. And then I made a payment from the citi website using the same bank acc number and details. I waited and waited, no sign of response. I emailed them thrice, I got such generic responses, bad spelling and grammar.(God, I hate that!) And then I called them up - after a long hold, a lady answered who had no clue why my available credit line showed zero online. She put me through her manager, who was not just rude but also condescending. And worst part of it was, she didn't have access to the eservice, so I had to relay my whole issue to her. Her response - because its a new bank acc, we need to wait for 6 days for confirmation before your acc becomes usable again. WHaaat ? Its the same account you dumb-witted morons !! I am changing my credit card provider. And what is up with those annoying calls marketing sleazy programs to you anyway? They don't work AT ALL.

My husband and I opened savings accounts at Citibank Egypt. A neighbor broke into our apartment and stole our ATM cards and was able to withdraw 50k in cash from Citibank ATM's over a three week period. On some days he was able to take well over the $1800 limit allowed. It appears he had inside help as we saw him pull the pin number out of his pocket and the bank ATM's didn't "eat" the card when he exceeded the withdrawal limits. The bank told us they had sent us new cards earlier that year but we never got them. We were able to identify him from the bank's video tapes. The bank refused to help us except to provide the court with copies of the videos. They told us to go to this guy to get our money back. We have won one case in court against this man for my account. The case for my husband is later this month. We are in the process of suing Citibank for lack of fiduciary responsability, collusion and fraudulent banking practices.

Citibank India has a horrible call center. Citibank company policy requires all customer service reps to provide their employee ID to the customer upon request. Often, India reps refuse or do not know of this policy. It is sad. Also, all calls to the India call centers are recorded. I was yelling at the India rep for his ID, but he still refused. I told him the call is being recorded and he is in violation of company policy. You can have an American supervisor review the call at any time. All of my calls to India are reviewed because they are all poor service.
So I call Citibank India and I ask the representative if there are any branches in Phoenix, Arizona. "Could you please spell Phoenix?" he asked me. I told him that Phoenix is a very large city in USA. He still insisted that he never heard of the word Phoenix. So I am at the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport in line for a Hertz car rental, and I am spelling out one of America's largest cities, " P H O E N I X ." Citibank India service is that horrible. The language barriers are real. Citibank needs to close these centers and bring back jobs to America.

I just switch back to citibank after WaMu had screwed with withdrawling money from my checking for a insurance policy that didnt belong to me. What I like about citi is that there are lots of Atms in my local area such as Publix, Money Pass, & 7-11. Citibranches are 3 or 4 miles away and i like the online platform and the IIT Inter Institutional Transfer feature which BOA,Wachovia charge for this feature. I like the Pay Pass Feature its a great perk. I also have the direct number to customer service without any prompts to dial. I like the fact that when i make a deposit no need to have a deposit slip to fillout. and that all you need is your debit card and thats it. Citi Direct 866.448.1868 & Debit Card Unit 800.647-5344 & prompt #4.

I agree with just about everything on this page. I work for Citi and I used have pride working here. It has turned into a joke. I am trying to get out but I'm staying out of spite. The people who run this company are morons-the so called "good ones" have left years ago. I encourage everyone to pull their business from Citi. They truly suck and reallly don't care about anyone. But don't worry, they will eventually drive themselves out of business. Sooner than later.

until they start treating their employees with respect, you (we ) cannot expect that our customers be treated with any. A bathroom break outside your regular break is frowned upon and in order to get a raise, you must speak quickly, get the customer off the phone and quit caring for them before you even get the phone call. I know that I will never get a raise at Citi because I do care and if you happen to get me on the phone, you will know that I do. I really do!!!!
