Germany's air pollution is set to worsen for a second year, the first back-to-back increase since at least the 1980s, after Chancellor Angela Merkel's decision to shut nuclear plants led utilities to burn more coal.

Time for Germany to develop clean coal or go back to nuclear (maybe with a new generation of molten salt thorium reactors).
They have the technology and technology friendly government to develop a 'futuregen' type power plant using the H2 in a gas turbine (Seimens 60.75% thermal efficiency) instead of potentially troublesome fuel cell tech.
