That's exactly what I would like to see happen. For what my wife actually brings home after paying for a crashpad, food, taxi's and shuttles, she could find a job close to home, be home everynight, not have to deal with the stress steenland and NWA mgmt put on their employees, and not be gone 18 - 20 days a month. It's not just the employees who are hit hard by NWA MGMT's B.S. its the families too. I was an FA back in 98 - 99, and it's only gotten worse over the years. I say "Screw Northwest, Let them go out of business! And somebody please tell Steenland I'd like to Fly a 747 up his ass!(He'd probably like it)

When I read a passionate comment like this I have to ask:

1. Why is your wife still flying and especially commuting to do so if she can find a better job and be home more?

2. What value is there for here to continue flying?

3. Why would you wish a company so many depend on for employment and service to go out of business? Do you hate these people and the towns and cities the airline serves?

You are not the only person I have heard say they wished the airline to go under. Where (except for your personal satisfaction) is the value in seeing the demise of NWA. Do you think it will make paupers of the managment people...Steenland, Wilson, Checci, et al?

What is the most rational reason you can give that supports this great idea that NWA no longer can operate, and how will that affect the communities it serves in a positive way?

1. Women are stupid, or he was just making it up and she actually can’t find a better job.
2. Maybe the job is not so bad after all, or she has a boy (or girl) friend or two she likes to get away with.
3. He is petty, resentful and jealous. Probably drives an import and shops at Wall-Mart while complaining about his diminishing lifestyle.

Is it THAT obvious? If I could just get rid of the last few customers I have here the company would shut this place down and I could go home! ;)

Finally, a voice of reason!
I am an agent in a soon to be outsourced city.. All we hear day to day is who is taking our job and there are absolutely no resources to help these stressed out employees who are losing their jobs and need to find new ones.. Most of these employees are in the 40's, and 50's and this company does not appreciate any of their service or experience and just wants to get rid of them with no assistance as what this does to a person's morale or to help them find new jobs.. They simply do not care . Nobody has won a war by getting rid of the frontline troops. And do you think the customers will be happy with their new service level.Isn't there a labor shortage in this country? Who are they going to find to do these jobs now? Good Luck to remaining employees.

My wife has held on over the last few months in hopes of a severance package. She has invested years and years into this company and hates to walk away with nothing to show for it. Also up until last year, My employer did not offer insurance benefits. That has now been remedied, and if the company doesn't offer some sort of early out severance package by the end of july, she is quitting.

No, I don't hate the people or communities, however, I don't believe you can really call what NorthWaste airlines does Service. As far as Steenland, checchi and the rest, no it won't make them paupers, but maybe it will enrage some enough to make other companies think twice before hiring them.

1. True some women are stupid, although I think your comments put you at the top of the list. and actually she's quitting the end of july, she has just been holding out in hopes of a severance package, to have something to show for her many years of service.

2. I gather you have never been a flight attendant (especially for northwest) if you make comments like "the job isn't that bad". I won't even acknowledge the other half of that point.

3. I'm not petty, resentful and jealous, I'm sick of seeing NWA treat thier employees this way, Yes I drive an import (Nissan) and shop at Wal-Mart (Notice there's only one 'L' in Wal-Mart), but i don't complain about my diminishing lifestyle, because I live quite comfortably thanks.

I'd also like to point out that for someone who was so Gung-Ho, Pro-Flight Attendants yesterday, you sure made a quick U-turn.

You don't get it. If Steenland and Wilson pull this off to the benifit of NWA, they will be seen as very valuable in the business world. Checci is out of it (NWA). He's not on the board of directors or in management. And you're wrong about the service NWA provides many comunities. There will be a huge negative impact throughout the northern tier of the U.S. if NWA shuts down. There is no one to fill the void. Think about it.

I do get it actually. The point I made originally was based on the premise of NWA shutting it's doors for good. If that happens, noone will think it they did anything to the benefit of NWA.

Yes, I know Checchi is out, I simply copied what you had put in your response.

As far as the northern tier goes, do you honestly believe that some other airline won't step up and take advantage of the opportunity NWA's departure will leave open? Think about this, There are several other airlines out there who could step in and pick up tons of business if NWA loses their foothold in the Market.

Listen, I believe that the responsibilities of running a large business that is, in essance, a "utility" vital to the communities it serves are huge and should come under scrutiny by some authority, just as I, as a pilot or a mechanic or a flight attendant does. If, through incompetance or corruption, a company such as NWA is mismanaged, and they are lining their pockets with the company's assets the management team should be considered unfit, corrupt, tried, sentenced, jailed and new management brought in to replace them.

Does anyone out there have evidence that the management team at NWA is corrupt and criminally liable in the intentional mismanagement of NWA? If you have such evidence, I would suggest you turn it over to the SEC or FBI and not remain an accomplice to the crime.

Many of the employees at NWA are stock holders. How many go to the stock holder meetings or even write a letter expressing your ideas? This is you right you know.

One thing that will get nothing accomplished is screamng obscenities and making benign accusations toward management. This has been going on far too long and it's beginning to bore me. There simply HAS to be something more to say. Maybe it's time to bug out.

Northwest's system will be "cherry picked" and the majority of the towns and cities will be without service. Actually, the other carriers are at max capacity right now and it will be years before they can absorb the NWA system, even if it's cherry picked.

Therefore, the government will mandate that NWA continue operating and there will always be employees to take the jobs. I know...it really sucks!

Hey Cap,
I agree with you, although I believe Wilson IS under investigation by the SEC. Maybe they'll throw his ass in jail, and he can lick jelly out of Bubba's butt crack for a few years;)! wait don't ruin my moment. Ok anyway, it's a thread of hope to hold onto.

If your wife can retire she is better off. Look at the TA......A52 & A53. If a person takes the buyout(not sure if there is or ever was one) you are considered to have resigned from the company. Also the buyout is contingent on all three unions ratifying their contract. Not to mention they have up to five years to pay you and they have to realize $$$$$$$ savings annually. NWA will re-interpret everything to benefit them as they are doing right now with the agents. Way to many ands, ifs, and buts in the wording.

Try not to take Mogan Dave's words to heart. Many of us learned a while back he likes to jerk your chain so to speak. Not sure if he bored in Bangkok or what.

Not really. The other airlines will get the planes out of the desert and start flying them so the can pick up some of the NWA routes. Remember PAA, EAL, BA? The government will not mandate that NWA should keep flying. The admin hates unions and airline employees. Ask John McCain how he feels about pilots. Please don't tell me again how wonderful Bush is either. Some of the NWA pilots who voted for him won't even admit it now.

Never said my wife could retire. Not enough seniority or age. I know what you mean about the if's and's and but's, I read the TA and Know the TA better than all of the fa's I know or my wife know's. They always called me from the crashpad for info.

And How could Dave be bored in Bangkok. I'm sure there's always a child or a donkey to make love to.(wink, wink)

Well Cap,
I agree with what your saying. I think the best option would be for another airline to purchase NWA outright. Fire NWA Management, and use NW Planes to service those areas. Most of those planes have been flying those routes so long, they could probably almost do it by themselves.(kind of like my car after a night at the bar).

Well, hell, I'll admit it li'l lady! And I did write John McCain and received a totally unacceptable reply several years ago that, if I can find it, I will share with you and the world...the dork!(And I hate name calling)

I did say that part of NWA's system would be picked up by other airlines, but the economies of many smaller communities will be heavily impacted, as will the economy of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Memphis, Detroit and other hub cities NWA serves. The picture is much larger than NWA. Businesses in the Twin Cities are very, very conserned over the future of NWA as, I am sure, they are in the other communities. Many jobs outside of those at Northwest are in the balance.
