High Cost Rail - Part 44 Dithering, Naive, Pathetic or All of the Above?

CAHSRA numbers look much to optimistic. 600,000 "full time" construction jobs??? These are really 100,000 jobs counted several times based on what section of right of way is being worked on.
450,000 permanent new jobs along rail line???? That's one for every 10 feet of right of way. Most will come from increased population, not the HSR.
Time & speeds mentioned are only for express, non-stop trips.
Most of the car trips they are saying will be eliminated are local transportation, most of which will remain.
Costs, I feel are low-balled to get public approval/buy in.
Can we afford this expensive project with the Country's and California's finances in such a mess?? Those Federal dollars the CA politicians are all so excited about come out of taxpayers pockets. They don't come from the CAHSRA fairy at no costs to taxpayers. CA $$$s and Federal $$$s are all taxpayer $$$s.
I might go along with the project if I believed the numbers and if the numbers made any economic sense, but right now the CAHSR project doesn't.
