Wait a minute...how did the plane burst into flames on the runway if it hit a gas station? Or are they now having convient stores for aircraft?

The pilot probably tried to take off once he hydroplaned and had little runway left. He had to accelerate. The failed attempt took them into the highway and nearby downtown area when altitude was not reestableshed. So sad. God Bless the passengers, ground victims, and their families.

What I understand is that the plane skidded off of the runway because the runway was to short. They had stopped landing planes of this size at this airport because of this problem. The government in Brazil decided that the economic losses would be to great so they reversed the decision. Like everywhere else, money is more important than safety and human life.
