Brazilian archbishop in hot seat after claiming more Catholics ...

Full story: Chicago Tribune

A Roman Catholic archbishop whose statements about the Holocaust have come under fire met with Jewish leaders this week to clarify his claim that Jewish domination of the media has obscured the toll of non-Jews killed by the Nazis.

So. 6 million Jews - victims. 6 million others - collateral damage. And so there is no need to remember or honor their suffering and deaths - because they didn't happen to be Jewish? And the total number constantly harped on in the press doesn't need to include them - being non-Jews, they were subhuman after all, it seems.
By this logic, Hitler was only half as bad as he was 50 years ago. I guess he wasn't so bad after all, eh?
How would the Jewish community react if their 6 million dead were referred to as 'collateral damage'? I suspect we'd never hear the end of it, and anyone foolish enough to utter the thought would be hounded from public view.
Sorry, but I'd say your statement proves the Archbishop's point beyond a shadow of doubt.
Pope Innocent lll sent deMontefort to France with 10,000 soldiers in the early 1200's to wipe out the Cathars in one particular city Languedoc. There were 200 Cathars in that city, the rest of the population were Roman Catholics.Because deMonte could not find out who the Cathars were, and the Catholic population even protected their Cathar neighbors, the whole city was wiped out,a total massacre.DeMonte made a statement paraphrased"Kill them all God will recognize who are His." In that case the Catholics who were martyred along with the Cathars were collateral damage.Muslims who blow up other Muslims rationalize in this way"It does not matter if we kill other Muslims, they will go straight to heaven anyway." The fact that the poster called the many other millions as collateral damage is not wrong, but very true,HITLER's hatred for the Jews was paramount to anything else he wanted to do in possessing the world. He was truly the world's most renowned D E S P O T!

Of course, the most important thing is this, "THAT WE NEVER FORGET WHAT HAPPENED"...One day, if we FORGET, they will say it never happened at all!!!!!!!!!! And above all...."We, as people must make sure it NEVERS HAPPENS AGAIN"!!!!!!!!!!

Majority of holocaust victims were Christians and Mohammedans. They were murdered for who they were.

It is wrong for the Holocaust Industry to ignore the other 50 million dead in WWII.

When I was growing up, many years ago, historical texts at the time typically stated that 12 million died in the camps, of which 6 million were Jews. The remainder were Poles, Ukranians; homosexuals, cripples, the mentally ill; anyone the Nazis felt were subhuman or undesirable. I've often felt in recent decades that Jews did the other victims a disservice by stressing the number of Jews killed to the exclusion of all the others. And surely enough, in recent years, the only number one has heard was the oft-repeated number of 6 million Jews; the others have been forgotten.
I'm not saying the Archbishop is correct, but I wonder just how much the historical record has been corrupted by precisely the factors he cites. The Jews were not the only victims; historical texts from the 60's record a much higher, inclusive number than 6 million. I'm not denigrating the persecution of Jews under the Nazis, but they weren't the only ones, and focusing only on their numbers has resulted in a dilution of the suffering of others. It would better serve the memory of humanity as a whole to remember the total number, not just the Jews. Otherwise, eventually, the less publicized victims will indeed be forgotten, as has in fact happened in recent decades.
5.1 million Jews not 6 million. Professor Raul Hilberg, the original and the number one scholar on the subject.

What is this a contest? Too many died.

Right now Gazans who often deny the holocaust are hoping to beat the Jews in killed numbers. Makes lots of sense, doesn't it?

Diminishing the numbers or pumping them up does nothing to the event itself...it still was wrong.

They don't...go to a Holocaust Museum or to the one in W.D. Additionally, many Muslims supported Hitler and still do. So did the KKK and still does. Do you?

Visit normanfinkelstein.com for some interesting analysis in his books on the Holocaust Industry. This brilliant man happens to be the son of a holocaust survivor and is gifted with an ability to go beyond the intellectual ghetto Pale.

There is more to life than gaining profit from the Holocaust Industry and ignoring war criminals like the late Simon Wiesenthal who never caught a Nazi in his life. All humans deserve respect, not just one holocaust glee club.

Catholics say what? Mass is maybe 20 minutes long and people run to their car to get home. Protestant services are often longer and people stay for coffee and fellowship.

20 minutes long? What a bald faced lie.We go to pray and not eat and brag about our kids after services.I will however give you credit for speaking like a typical Protestant.
