Hundreds of helium "party balloons?"

I wonder about that. The Mythbusters did a bit on this, and it took SEVERAL hundreds of party balloons -- far more than they originally calculated -- to barely lift a tiny little girl. I think some web-searching is in order here. This story smells funny.

Here's a link to another article which includes a photo. It's a legit story, but those don't look like "party balloons" to me...

Remember the dude who shot up to 11,000 feet over LAX in his lawn chair? Those were weather balloons, and they looked a lot like the balloons in the photo.

Just wondering why he did not have a spotter aircraft with him. If this was done in South Florida, he would have the Sheriffs, news, and "hermanos a rescate" flying so much around him, he would need air traffic control!

did this priest sign his death warrant if he knew any thing about alltitude ballons blow up at a certain height these weren't weather ballons i assume poor fellow.
