For someone who repeatedly and loudly questioned and attacked Bush for Iraq, which was about freeing people from being ruled by a iron-fisted dictator, I'm wondering what Obama's rationale is for US military intervention in Libya? Maybe he's realized that oil is important for the country when others, namely, China, are threatening to take it over if we don't act correctly in the region.

of course, there's no chance of Qaddafi retaliating with terrorist attacks against Europeans or Americans, because he has NEVER done that sort of thing.

Of course, there's no chance of him blowing up his own oil wells as a last gesture of demented defiance, thus destroying the only reason the US/UK bothered to institute a no-fly zone.

Let's hope that, along with the inevitable and under-reported civilian casualties, a stray missile kills Qaddafi and his minions quickly surrender. Otherwise we're being sucked into another quagmire.

The level of criticism depends on the US body count as much as on the party membership of the president who orders the attacks. When Clinton was killing Serbian civilians every might for three months, no over here raised a fuss because no Americans were killed. Afghanistan also was the designated "good war" because relatively few American troops died in comparison to Iraq. Plenty of Afghani and Iraqi civilians died in both invasions and occupations, but they're a lower form of life than Americans (sarcasm).

Obama has an obligation to the NATO. For everyone that cries its all for the oil then you need to take a step back and realize how much oil "you" use. and what would happen if you didnt have it. good choice or bad choice its all an opinion but, president obamas job is to preserve the American people and their freedoms. which is not letting civillians get massacred and ensuring we the people have our greatest demand "oil".

NATO treaty Article 5 doesn't apply. No NATO member was attacked. NATO was not attacked, and this action is not taking place in Europe or North America.
The last time Article 5 was invoked was September 11, 2001, as fighters from Canada, Britain and Italy patrolled our eastern seaboard.

For us to suddenly attack another country that has not posed a direct threat to us, now that's just scary. Where is the Congressional authorization?

If this nation is governed by the so-called "rule of law," then can someone take the time to please explain the legal basis for the President's action here, inasmuch as Obama hasn't seen fit to do so.

G.W. was asked why he Invaded IRAQ when there was absolutely "No WMDS" of any kind! His answer was "My GOD told me to!" This Maggot Gadhafi's action against the people is and was being Televised! Pres. Obama has the Authorization from th United Nations! Also there are other countries involved! As for the Money The United States will be Reimbursed through the U.N.
