** I Recently learned that Arreola is scheduled to fight again on Feb. 2. No opponent has been announced.
** As you noticed above, 6' 9" Tye Fields fights a TBA opponent on Dec. 20. This is a stay-busy fight ~~ he should win easily. Bob Arum wanted him to fight Valuev B-4 Chagaev surprised us all. I honestly would like to see Fields fight Wlad K.! Fields has too many K.O.s on his record for this to be seriously considered by Wlad's Braintrust.
** Dec. 21 ~~ One look at Innocent Otukuwu's pro record tells me that Rodriguez will win by K.O.

** Yeehoo!.... Chris Arreola is scheduled to fight Monte Barrett on Feb. 2!..Barrett may have lost 3 of his last 4, but he's STILL a tough opponent. As of Dec. 15, Boxrec ranks Arreola as 18th in the World. If he beats Barrett, that's got to boost his reputation! I'm hoping ALL OF THE "BIG 4" will rank him! You wanna see the "Big 4" Top-15 Rankings? Just a minute and I'll give you a Link!

Feb. 29 ~~ Showtime-televised: The REMATCH of T.J. Wilson vs. Travis Walker!

Mar. 8 ~~ ZDF-televised in Germany: A. Dimitrenko vs. L. Krasniqi...Euro. Title?
~~~~~~~~~~
** It has become increasingly obvious to me that Dimitrenko has copied a page from Wlad. Klitschko's Playbook! He had gotten his ranking by beating smaller men. Finally he got enough courage to fight big Timo Hoffman ~~ solid, decisive win. Now it's STRAIGHT BACK to the little guys ~~ Krasniqi is much lighter and shorter.
FIRST, the BAD news:
** Chris Arreola vs. Monte Barrett, scheduled for Feb. 2, has been cancelled! They're trying to salvage the card by changing the date to Feb. 9 and looking for a new opponent for Chris.
NEXT, the GOOD news!
** On March 8, on the Undercard of Peter--Maskaev, they've got Jameel McCline vs. John Ruiz!
THIS WEEKEND:
Jan. 25: Jason Estrada vs. Charles Shufford (Connecticut)
Jan. 26 ~~ HBO-televised: IBF Eliminator: Alexander Povetkin vs. Eddie Chambers.
Three more of interest:
Feb. 2 ~ Scottsdale, AZ: Shannon Briggs - TBA
Feb. 8 ~ Dubai: J.D. Chapman - Rich Boruff.
Mar. 13 ~ Las Vegas: Tye Fields - Josue Blocus
** It's Jan 31 and STILL NO opponent announced for Shannon Briggs. He was scheduled to fight on Feb. 2....Maybe the card has been scrapped.
** Feb 9 ~~ Temecula, CA.: Chris Arreola vs. Cliff Couser. I can't get excited since Couser has lost 4 of his last 5 fights.
** March 8 ~~ Cancun, Mexico. I'm picking McCline over Ruiz.
** Henry Akinwande is fighting Steve Herelius for the EBU-EU (European Union) Heavyweight Title on Feb. 19th. Although Henry is 6' 7" tall, with an 86" reach, he will be 42 years, 4 months old on fight night. He's fighting a 31-year-old Southpaw, former cruiserweight who is barely over 6' tall and will probably weigh in around 203-208#. That gives Akinwande an estimated 40-50# weight advantage over Herelius! Herelius got knocked out by Al Sosnowski in 2007, and has ONLY WON 1 of his last 3 fights....So it's pretty obvious the promoters want Akinwande to win, so they can match him against Dimitrenko, Virchis, Solis, Skelton, or maybe even Steffen Kretschmann.
sohc,donīt u think henry akinwande should retire at 42,he did not look good against oleg platov,do u think he has any chance against dimitrenko,solis,virchis e,t,c?may be he can look good agaist an equally old sanders,i think all these old boys shoud giv way to the youger ones.henry has disappointed me the day he refused to throw a punch against lennox but chose to hug and grab.i am not excited about him.virchis,dimitrnko,povetkin ,arreola,chambers,thompson,rod riques,gomez,wladmir,samuel peters are d people that we should be concetrating on at this time before the real heavyweight collosus comes.b4 long the real undisputed heavyweight champion of d world will emerge.
damilola,.... Brilliant thoughts, as usual, friend!...Akinwande wants to MAKE MONEY, and if he can get a minor Title against former Cruiserweight, Herelius ~~ That's gonna give him more bargaining power with Promoters.
... I think Henry KNOWS he's finished, so he just wants to get one final BIG PAYDAY against a NAME contender. This weekend, Arreola stopped Cliff Couser in the 1st and J.D. Chapman stopped Rich Boruff in the 2nd. I can name you at least a DOZEN contenders who would LOVE to fight Akinwande and would accept LOW pay to fight him! That's what SMART promoters look for!
... I believe there will be MORE THAN ONE heavyweight Colossus! I can see the "Big-4" each having their own Champ.
... Here's what I expect will happen in the next 18 months: Valuev gets a rematch with Chagaev and wins his WBA Title back. Sam Peter will kayo Maskaev (Undisputed WBC Title), and continue his win streak against WORTHY contenders. Wlad (IBF & IBO Champ) WILL beat Sultan Ibragimov and Alexander Povetkin. Then he will GIVE UP one of his World Titles and concentrate on defending the IBF Title! continue AVOIDING the Monsters and stick with the LITTLE guys he can beat!...That leaves the WBO Title, and, IMO, some contenders who would go after it are: Arreola, Virchis, Dimitrenko, J.D. Chapman, Odlanier Solis, Tony Thompson, David Rodriguez, and the winner of T.J. Wilson vs. Travis Walker!
i will never stop getting excited at ur depth and insight,henry akinwande has a sprawling estates in Lagos suburbs in Nigeria and he has a lot of business interests,to service and maintain them he needs a constant flow of cash,u are ioo% right.he has no championship ambition any more just to make most available money.do u think jameel can stop the slippery john ruiz?CAN TAYLOR BEAT KELLY PAVLIK THIS TIME?is vitaly really coming back?.on a private note,i am planning to come to the united states for just two weeks with my wife b4 the year runs out,i have a sister in dallas,she will be our host,may be then i may seize d opportunity to see SOHC 4 FACE TO FACE:
i think d time is ripe for kelly pavlik to unify with arthur abraham, both have a good punching power but i think kelly has better pain bearing ability.if i were to be a promoter i would be running up and down to make it happen.it will be money spinning.
