First of all he didn't rape the chick, unless you take her word over his. She went up to HIS room at 2am.

Second, what's this about failure? How has tyson failed exactly and who's convincing him that his life has been a failure?

The man came from the worst ghetto in the country, a devastated (much less broken) home, juvenile hall and absolute hopelessness as a child and became the richest fighter of all time, a world champ at 20 and again at 30, an internationally famous athelete and an idol to millions, black and white all over the world and one of the greatest fighters who ever lived. He should be on his knees thanking god for his great success in life. Not crying that he's a failure. Most of the white boys with a harvard education who had success in the 80;s ended up crashing and burning from drugs, stress and white collar criminality. He beat THEM! His life has been 1,000 times more successful than the average person.

Reformers faced tough job in stopping black lynching

Excerpt: "CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- Billie Holiday's name is associated with many classic songs, but none has a stronger grip on my imagination than “Strange Fruit.” This haunting ballad recounts the story of an all-too frequent occurrence in this nation's history: the lynching of African-Americans --“strange fruit” dangling from the trees.

Between 1882 and 1950, 3,436 African-Americans were lynched, according to statistics kept by the Tuskegee Institute. This is a conservative estimate based on documented sources. It's virtually impossible to determine exactly how many African-Americans were subjected to this bestial practice because so many of these incidents either went unreported or law enforcement officials did not investigate them.

From 1882 to 1933, 30 black men were lynched in Maryland. The last victim was George Armwood, who was hanged and burned by a mob of 3,000 men, women and children in Princess Anne.

Armwood was charged with attacking a 71-year-old white woman. Gov. Albert C. Ritchie was told that Armwood might be lynched by angry whites, but the governor refused to have him moved from the Eastern Shore to Baltimore. Just two years earlier, in 1931, another black man had been lynched on the courthouse grounds in Salisbury. From 1889 to 1927, 66 such murders were known to have occurred in North Carolina.

Anger over lynching was a critical factor that led to the formation of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in 1909. The NAACP correctly viewed lynching as an inevitable outgrowth of white supremacy and waged a long, unsuccessful battle for federal anti-lynching legislation.

W.E.B. DuBois called on the NAACP to investigate each reported lynching and to share its information with the press and elected officials. NAACP officials were kept busy by the nation's appetite for white-on-black violence. In 1918, for example, during a span of five days, eight black people were lynched in Georgia. The NAACP's investigation revealed that one of the victims was a pregnant woman. Her crime: She protested when a mob lynched her husband. The woman was slowly burned to death, and her infant was trampled when it fell from her body."
