Peter shed a few pounds for this fight, which he took very seriously. He also added an effective jab to his arsenal and was up on his feet the last few rounds, demonstrating his improved boxing skills. The fact that he couldn't KO Toney didn't diminish his victory. Old "Lights Out" remains one of the toughest customers in the ring today. Peter's managers matched him against Klitchko way too soon; I'm glad to see him back in prime condition. He has a lot to offer the heavyweight division.

Fitz ..... Okay, the FIRST TIME, Sam Peter got a Split Decision win over Toney. He was supposed to be Oleg Maskaev's Mandatory Challenger, right? But then Toney's Management contacted the WBC Brass and complained - so Toney gets a rematch.~~~~~~ Meanwhile, Oleg defends against Peter Okhello, a guy who isn't even top-40 with most of the sanctioning bodies. Oleg wins the decision.~~~~~~ Now that Sammy has won the rematch by Unan. dec., and is AGAIN Oleg's mandatory, Sammy is gonna get his title shot, right?~~~~~~ But Dennis Rappaport said, "the WBC has a rule that if a unification fight comes up, that it would take priority over a mandatory." ..So Wladimir Klitschko (the IBF World Champ), wants to fight Oleg and will probably repeat his $5 million offer to Oleg! Wlad Klitschko is trying to "steal" Sammy's Title Shot against Oleg!!!~~~~~~ Might sound unreal, but that's how the game is being played!...Come on, WBC!... Sammy deserves his shot!

Fitz .... Yes, Sammy won by Unanimous Decision and has earned a title shot against Oleg Maskaev! He is the WBC Mandatory Challenger, so Oleg should be forced to fight him!...Sadly, it looks like Wladimir Klitschko is trying to "steal" Oleg away from Sam Peter!..Monday, Jan. 8 on Fightnews.com - Dennis Rappaport (of Wlad's Camp) said: "the WBC has a rule that if a unification fight comes up, that it would take priority over a mandatory." Dennis has contacted the WBC and is trying to secure the fight for Wladimir!

I want to see a unified champ. If klitchko fights maskaev that is half the deal. Then Valuev needs to fight briggs. Whoever unifies the title gets to beat up on sam peter. And don't get me wrong. I'm not a sam peter hater, but he is at least 3 years away. His physical skills are good, but he is not a good boxer... yet. The longer he waits for a rematch with klitchko, the better it is for him.

Klichko could have betten both of these guys in the same night. Peter really only knocked Klichko down once in the 11th round. The other so called knock downs wre shots to the back of the head that put of ballance down to one knee. Even in the 11th round after being knocked down Klichko still came back to win the round. Peter was taken to the hosbitle. Tony is a joke and has no bussiness in the heavy weight division today.
No one will beat Vaulev or Klichko for a long time.

Marc from the USA:... You say, "Klichko could have betten both of these guys in the same night." ...I disagree!..Corrie Sanders kayoed him in 2 and Lamon Brewster kayoed him in 5. Sam Peter had him on the canvas 3 times - the referee saw all 3 as legitimate knockdowns!..Notice that Wlad hasn't tried to get rematches with any of these 3 guys!..Maybe what you're trying to tell us is that Klitschko could have beaten his meat twice on the same night?

edo bg ..... I'll tell you what I see for Wladimir. Yes, barring a freak situation, he could K.O. the 37-year-old Oleg Maskaev....However, Oleg must fight his Mandatory - Sam Peter - and we both know how that's going to end!~~~~~ Wlad is NOT trying to get a fight with the 2 guys (Corrie is 40 or 41!), who kayoed him! He dodged Shannon Briggs to fight little Cal Brock.~~~~~ If you want to think of me as a hater, I'll say this: Wlad Klitschko might TRY TO unify the heavyweight title, but I don't see him getting past Valuev or Briggs. I'll be surprised if he even TRIES to get a fight with either of these guys.~~~~~ Say what you like about what Wlad's gonna do .... We don't see him doing it yet, now do we?!?!

I mean all of the guys you've mentioned have a punchers chance against klitcko. But klitchkos chin has improved. Yes, he got decked by Peter 3 times in that fight. But he got up and beat the mess out of him. Sign of true champion. Also, when he lost to the guys you mentioned, he was too young and cocky. he is 30 now, and just reaching his prime. Chances of briggs, brewster, or anybody else beating Klitchko are at about 10 percent, and they are that high because of his past problems with his chin.

i want to say that vitalis klitschko is a spent force,he should go and concentrate on his injury and leave real fighter like samuel peter to show their skill, his time is up.he can never actualise his dream of both of them becoming heavyweight champion at the same time.too late, impossible

... Well, Dave - Looks like Vitaly K. will get the Title Shot against WBC Champ Oleg Maskaev. ..Yes, I agree with you that Sam Peter DESERVES it, but Klitschko will get it. ~~~~~~ It appears that Peter will be Vitaly's first mandatory, however.

He had wladimir down 3 times (2 of them by illegal shots to the back of the head but whatever) Wladimir Klitchko still dominated him. Oh and as far as you saying samuel peter is unstapable. He couldn't beat an overweight fat has been in Toney. Ps. Check your stats. Vitali klitchko has never been down, much less knocked out. His two tko losses were due to injury. Never has he been out.

And why shouldn't vitali k get the chance? He retired due to injury and gave up the title because he was not capable of defending it due to injury. That was the right thing to do. Now that he is healthy he has every right to get back to world domination

Maskaev WILL NOT loose to Peter. Maskaev is to slick. Peter has a punchers chance but that is about it.
