As I thought about the debate last not put on by the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce and hosted by BCC, something very important occurred to me. And, please, understand that what I am writing is meant with all sincerity.

I think that it would be a blessing in disguise if Mayor Ruberto does not win this election. He just recently lost his wife of many years and, then, his mother passed away on Thursday.

I think that he needs time to himself, and time to grieve the losses of these two very important people in his life. Plus, I think that he has his own health to consider. With all of the stress he is under, he could have a heart attack, and no job is worth that.

He could work as a consultant for Pittsfield, or for one of the businesses he has been involved with in this area.

Grieving is a process that can take a very long time. And now, with the loss of his mother, there will be a whole new cycle of grief for him to cope with.

Thus, he would be entering a new term with substantial encumbrances that Dan does not have.

It is difficult to do something selfish in a situation such as this. But, I think the people who want Mayor Ruberto reelected for their own selfish reasons should seriously consider the very difficult realities that he is contending with. And, I believe that these realities will compromise his ability to perform as Mayor.

All of what I've written here is of the utmost sincerity.
