insight? foresight? 3 years later and it's finally over. i agree with some of the posters here. most all dive bars will keep problem patrons as long as they have money. it would seem odd to keep them, even though they are pushing away other patrons. you would also think they would have legal responsibilities as bartenders but i wonder just how far this carries. it would also seem as though the bartenders in such places look at it like they are babysitting and not like they have responsibility to ensure the safety of others. it might just be the owners are pushing for more business and more income rather than being responsible for their customers safety. they would rather wait till something like the recent murder to do something about it.

this is what happens when you let crack and heroin freaks run wild:

"At approximately 2 a.m., an altercation took place with between 20 to 30 people," North Adams Police Director Michael Cozzaglio said Saturday. "The altercation spilled out onto Union Street from in front of the Artery Lounge, which resulted in two people being stabbed and one person having a bottle being broken against their head."

my stand on this subject is to push the bar tenders and staff into more responsible roles. they should be getting rid of the filth that is causing such terrible things to boil over. it was only a matter of time, with the recent shooting incident, that this would be the ultimate outcome. i am sure, as with any bar/lounge, there are the few good people, but i also have seen many places keep the well-known trouble-makers around just because they have lots of drug-money to spend.

North Adams, stand up now or forever hold your peace. this rat hole you call a city is about to become the next Springfield. dont let your home go to waste. stand up for the good and shun the bad. do something about it now, and clean this city up. the filth that has been making its way here is only getting worse. do something now!

condolences for the lost.

I've said it a hundred times and I'll say it once's time to declare war on the dirtbags of this city. That isn't a racial thing or an income thing. You know who I mean...the people that give nothing back or partake in anything in the community, the people who keep having more kids and don't support any of them, the one's who have no connections to North Adams but come here on a promise of a free ride. WHY DO WE HAVE TO KEEP INVITING AND WELCOMING THEM HERE?

I'm officially against all new low income housing, all new support agencies in the city, and any other reason for them to prefer NA over Pittsfield or Springfield. I'm sorry it sounds crewel, but we need to do something to stop this influx of problems. Lets help the ones we already have and stop more from coming in.

"We want this to be a place where people feel comfortable coming to," O'Neil said. "We want to build a clientele of couples, and people who want to come out, enjoy a cocktail and have a good time."
The quote is from the article about the Artery opening there. Has owners stating their vision of what their establishment would be. It didn't fall from grace overnight. NO effort to make this place what they stated when they opened. Just keep taking the $$Money$$ from your garbage gang and trash clientele. I wouldn't take a dump in that dump. Across the street. Same thing with same crowd and biker trash.

I heard the city shut the place down permanently. Any truth to that?
