True 'Compass'

I finally saw the movie "The Golden Compass." I thought the film was imaginative, provocative , sumptuously photographed and filled with our culture's finest traditional values: courage, honesty, loyalty, ...

The Golden Compass is a great book, one which my daughter read in elementary school and liked so much that she has a copy in her library. I haven't seen the movie, but I plan to see it soon. This tempest in a teapot over the "anti-Christian" content reminds me of the failed attempt by a minister in Western Massachusetts who campaigned to ban sales of the song American Pie, claiming it promoted Satanism and belittled the death of Christ. Different century, but same narrow-minded thinking. Taken at face value, both are entertaining and enjoyable. People need to stop analyzing literature and music and attatching their own interpretations as justification to take away the right of others to make their own decisions.

the special effects were amazing, and so was most of the acting, although sometimes Dakota's acting got on my nerves...
