I saw the finale Tuesday night in a screening at the Lennox in 3D. Outside of the beginning of the movie I do not really recall any 3D effects. My advice is to definitely skip paying the extra money for 3D.
As someone who has never read any of the books, but has seen all of the movies I did enjoy the movie. My wife and 2 daughters who have read all 7 books and watched the movies many times were a little put off on the way some of the very important scenes are changed in the movie from the book, but that is pretty much expected in my opinion when a movie is adapted from a novel. After they explained the differences I just don't understand why they would have made the changes. Their changes didn't add and suspense or great effects and could have easily been filmed the way Rowling had intended.

Why watch any movie in 3D? I cannot wait to the next Potter movie. They changed a few parts from the clips. Do the movie like the book. Cannot wait to see this movie.
