i wanted to cut my hair since i was in 6th and even went for it when i was in seventh. I just wnt in to a barber shop and got my joora cut and got a cool haircut just like my other friends. but when i went home i was beaten blue and black and was threatened. but i disobeyed and started to maintain the short hair and managed the same for a year. but under parental pressures i had to again keep the hair. now it has been 9 years since i keep my hair. i am working now and hv a gf, she is a non sikh, she is a jain 'anjali shah'. her parents also want me to get a hair cut before marriage. her younger brother is ashish shah and he always makes fun of my joora and wants that i cut it. but she doesnt mind my joora and is fine with it. her parents are quite conservative jains and want me to get a haircut, be vegetarian, be a non drinker and overall try and practise Janism. I in nidhi's love sacrificed non veg and alcohol. now what was left was haircut and janism. so i went with ashish last week to a saloon for a haircut. ashish choose a hairstyle for me. the barber removed the turban opened the joora combed the hair backwards and made sectionwise ponytails. ashish was recording it in his iphone. then the barber took a scissor and cut off all the ponies. now what was left was neck lenght hair, then he sprayed some water on my hair combed them again and started using the comb and scissors. after 30 mins the haircut was over. the cut chosen by ashish was a center partition haircut with long hair in front and short at back, the hair in front were partitioned from center and went till my eyebrows. the sideburns were short. the ashish told him to shave my facial hair. the barber told me to keep a stubble, but ashish said that his family hates stubble and a cleanshaven look is better, after 15 mins i got a shave. then i went with ashish to a shewatember jain temple ad there i got blessings from the priest who explained jainism to me and took the 5 vows and declared me a jain. then i straight away went with ashish to his house where everyone was happy to see my haircut and accepted me as their to be son in law. ashish told them about me being a jain and my new name Ashish Jain. anjali praised my hairstyle and looks.

Mom was not angry as she knew its gonna happen one day or the other and moroover she had seen me in haircuts before. Although she said i look handsome with short hair. Today was the day for second cut. I went to the saloon and unlike the first time i had a hairstyle in mind, i wanted the hair like the one which my cousin shiv had, thats long hair in front and temples and gradual crop at back and a clean nape and hairline. The barber made me sit, sprayed water on my freed hair which were not in a joora any more. Even thinking of keeping a joora makes me feel bizarre and unhygenic. The cut was smooth and the shave was awesome. I hv a sardar friend sahil sandhu who also wants to get his joora cut, and he appreciated my looks and decision. His father is very strict and will kill him if he even trimed his beard. But last week i also pumped a lot of confidence in him. His sister and mother alreaddy cut their hair and i yold him to give the same plea. I made him understand that hair are nothing but a dead cells and you do not become more pure by not cutting them. But then i said that he should first cut his hair and seek support from mum and sister. Bus that was it he agreed, but it was 12 pm and he could not wait till mrng. So i opened his joora tied a pony and took a scissor and sliced his joora. It hardly took me 10 secs to cut his joora and make his feel the freedom and air in his hair. Then i took a shaving razor and shaved his beard. In the mrng we went to the saloon at 7 am and got his hair styled and cut. Now sahil looks as if he is a 14 years old boy earlier ge used to look as if he was 35. Thd difference was there, the clean shaven look, side partition in hair, nicely shaped nape, closely croppped hair at back, smooth sidebrns, hair moving with air, his hand setting his hair again and forth, no more face covered in turban. Life took a turn after haircut as instead of combing, hairwash, turban, fixo, thati giani bodha now it was full of caps hats goggles hairstyles gels after shaves razors styles swimming etc.
@Siddarth: Congrats for enjoying the new life style. You would love experimenting and the refreshing feel after a new haircut and a shve is only to be experienced. Good that you got a positive sign from your mother. Yes, she woul be rememebring the days when you had haircuts and she then would also be comparing how she took care of you long hair. But is is a very confident step that you took and now best of 'new' life!

@Ashish: Congrats and you must have remembered teh days when you kept haircuts and had short hair for more than a year. Did you feel nice after the 'joora cut'?
But I do not understand if your gf had no objection to haircut why did you convert and get hair cut so soon. At least you should waited till your marriage, then the transformation would be more meaningful. And I am glad she loves you new look. Take her with you when you go for the second time for a haircut and let her enjoy seeing you in the barber chair. Maybe going to an Unisex saloon would be good. Does he have short hair too? But I do not understand your conversion to Jain belief. If your parents did not accept your haircut earlier, how would htry react to your conversion and extreme adventurous life now?!!! CONGRATS all the same!

Hi Harsimran,
Do no think much! just go to nearby saloon and have a haircut. Be assure that all the hairs with splits ends must got cut. Rest leave it on hairdresser he will take care of it you just need to visit the saloon and be prepare yourself for the change or what so ever. Just go and do it as soon as possible without thinking much Good Luck!
I have faced same problem tried various methods, wasted time and money but not got satisfactory results. At last only option left was haircut, just trimming is not sufficient so go to a good saloon and get it done.

Hello Akash - It is a good sign that your mother has said she will help you out. Cutting hairs from the center will help reduce the volume and weight on the head. Your 'joora' will become 'joori' ad you will have fun. First get your mother to cut the hair from the middle at home.. You will notice the difference. Later times you can and will like to visit the barber for the fortnightly reduction in hair. This method will help you retain the outwardly sikh appearance and also get relief of the 'hair fear'. At a later date maybe you can get a prper hair cut. In the meantime you will have the option to wear your hair in a pony or even with a cap! Go ahead, one good suggestion from parents is going to take you miles! Share your feelings, buddy.

Hmm ...T.C.P. girl...situations for sikh girls are much easier than boys lol
Just go for a smoothening treatment if your hair texture is bad & and a good haircut suiting ur fave
Long layers prove to be the best and safe cut.
My sis had it last month and its great ..

Fingers crossed !

Hello everyone
I am a sikh 20 and i am following this blog from last 3 years.
I am a kind of hair fetish and i get pleasure even after hearing a haircut.I have waist length hair and untrimmed beard.
Now coming to the point, today at around 06:30 PM nobody was at home.
I was feeling itchy on my head so i decided to take a head bath.
I don't know what happend but I took scissors and cut one or two strands from my beard.
I know chelsea style and I thought tryin it.
I cut 3-4 hair firstI was trembling.
I again took a thick bundle of hair and placed scissors under it.
I was still in doubt if i should proceed further meanwhile i dont know what happend and the sound was scrunch scrunch.
I was trembling.but than I cut them really really short near the skull and the scalp is almost visible now
About my feeling: I was helpless,I tried a lot to get rid of this fetish but I couldn't.
I am feeling guilty as well but the feeling is different too.
It doesnt feels light maybe coz that amount of hair isn't cut.

Now I am worried as well that what will happen when anyone will come to know.
But I guess I can hide it from everyone.
Gold any suggestions???
How much time will it take to grow again?
I don't have guts to face my parents with a haircut.
Anyone interested in pics, leave ur mailing id.
I am touching my hair while typing and itz prickly feeling.
I poured 3-4 drops of water and it feels cool.
What should be done next???

I am a sikh boy of 18 years and i got a haircut last year. It was fun. I lived in hostel in delhi and sharedmy room with Ashish who was a hindu. Seeing his ease and haircut i also somehow dreamt to get a haircut. Seeing ashish trimming his beard or shaving off at times made me feel restricted and out of place. That day i accompanied him to the nearby saloon for his haircut and was waiting in the saloons lobby for him to cum. I had been there many a times but that day was a sought of a rurn around. Ashish came back after the haircut and suggested me to get a beard trim as my beard had started covering my face, i somehow agreed, the barber made me sit and using a. Pair of scissors trimmed off the beard then he shaped my beard using a razor and shaved off the uneven portion from my cheeks, just then ashish suggested to shave off the beard from my neck and below the chin and just keep it on my cheeks, the barber it as he said, then using an electric shaver he again trimmed the left over beard. Then when i just got up from the seat, ashish said that why dont i try a haircut, i went numb but he made me agree to the fact that joora is not on and i would look better with a haircut, i agreed but told ashish to stay with me as i was scared. I caught his hand and closed my eyes. What i felt was barbers hand and comb in my hair and sound of scissors. The moment joora was cut ashish told me that joora is gone, then the barber gave a gud haircut, the moment it was done i opened my eyes and i could not recognize myself, i was looking awesome. Since then i have been cuting my hair.
