@Ashish: Congrats and you must have remembered teh days when you kept haircuts and had short hair for more than a year. Did you feel nice after the 'joora cut'?i wanted to cut my hair since i was in 6th and even went for it when i was in seventh. I just wnt in to a barber shop and got my joora cut and got a cool haircut just like my other friends. but when i went home i was beaten blue and black and was threatened. but i disobeyed and started to maintain the short hair and managed the same for a year. but under parental pressures i had to again keep the hair. now it has been 9 years since i keep my hair. i am working now and hv a gf, she is a non sikh, she is a jain 'anjali shah'. her parents also want me to get a hair cut before marriage. her younger brother is ashish shah and he always makes fun of my joora and wants that i cut it. but she doesnt mind my joora and is fine with it. her parents are quite conservative jains and want me to get a haircut, be vegetarian, be a non drinker and overall try and practise Janism. I in nidhi's love sacrificed non veg and alcohol. now what was left was haircut and janism. so i went with ashish last week to a saloon for a haircut. ashish choose a hairstyle for me. the barber removed the turban opened the joora combed the hair backwards and made sectionwise ponytails. ashish was recording it in his iphone. then the barber took a scissor and cut off all the ponies. now what was left was neck lenght hair, then he sprayed some water on my hair combed them again and started using the comb and scissors. after 30 mins the haircut was over. the cut chosen by ashish was a center partition haircut with long hair in front and short at back, the hair in front were partitioned from center and went till my eyebrows. the sideburns were short. the ashish told him to shave my facial hair. the barber told me to keep a stubble, but ashish said that his family hates stubble and a cleanshaven look is better, after 15 mins i got a shave. then i went with ashish to a shewatember jain temple ad there i got blessings from the priest who explained jainism to me and took the 5 vows and declared me a jain. then i straight away went with ashish to his house where everyone was happy to see my haircut and accepted me as their to be son in law. ashish told them about me being a jain and my new name Ashish Jain. anjali praised my hairstyle and looks.
But I do not understand if your gf had no objection to haircut why did you convert and get hair cut so soon. At least you should waited till your marriage, then the transformation would be more meaningful. And I am glad she loves you new look. Take her with you when you go for the second time for a haircut and let her enjoy seeing you in the barber chair. Maybe going to an Unisex saloon would be good. Does he have short hair too? But I do not understand your conversion to Jain belief. If your parents did not accept your haircut earlier, how would htry react to your conversion and extreme adventurous life now?!!! CONGRATS all the same!
