<quoted text>I'm about to destroy your every argument so get ready. You say hair belongs to the guru so we can't cut it. Okay hair is dead cells. Fingernails also grow and they're actually living not dead why are we allowed to cut them? Poop is dead like hair why don't we keep it in our body?
You said 9 gurus didn't have Singh in their name cuz they knew they had to be Amrit dhari? Well Amrit dhari wasn't invented back then so your argument is a lie. Sikhs don't lie :)
You said the 5 k's aren't in text because we have to find a deeper meaning in gurbani? Ok they're no where in gurbani so the deeper meaning is don't use them.
You said I can pray but if I don't keep my hair im dead? Well christians and Muslims believe in 1 god are you saying those 6 billion people will go to hell? NO you idiot. Fakirs that wrote in guru Granth sahib achieved mukti and didn't keep their hair. So your argument is a lie.
Who does waheguru love more?
Bob Dhillon, a Sikh billionaire who donates millions to help people but has a haircut?
Or the terrorist Sikh radicals who wear 5 k's and bombed air India,
Bob Dhillon. Now keep the little dignity you have left and stop arguing. You're finished.
You all guys have started making your opinions about what should be done and what should not be. Nobody is following or reading what is written in Guru Granth Sahib ji.

Hair rakhne hai ja nahi no one can make you do that, but its a request please read Guru Granth Ji. I am pretty sure you will get answers for your questions.

Regarding hairs in Guru Granth Sahib Ji:

With each and every hair, with each and every hair, as Gurmukh, I meditate on the Lord.

To Manveer

hair too grow like nails and both are dead. Poop is techically not dead but contains living bacteria.no one can say where we go after we are dead. And terriorist dont have religion, their main goal is to make people suffer.

Your argument is invalid. And u lost to me.

ps i too want a hair but cant cos os balding from sides.

I am 22 years old sikh boy from jaipur. I belong to a conservative sikh family. I too had long hair and beard, which i could not cut. But few six months ago i completed my degree and came to gurgaon for my job. Here i was away from my family and lived with my friends who had short hair. It used to take me a lot of tym to upkeep my hsir tie turbsn wash them tie my beard. Moreover i would look older than other ppl due to my looks. One day last month my friends told me to get a haircut and a shave. All of them were going to a saloon for their haircut so they just took me along. Seeing them getting haircut i also sat on the chair. The barber removed my cap, opened mu joora and put in his scissors. After a while my hair were short and i was cleanshaven. I really loved my look, my short hair and clean face. I kept on feeling the cut hair and kept on moving my fingers through them. I told my family about it but they rebuked me. But now all is fine and i am loving my new form.

@Congrats Ashish! You have taken courage and got what you always wished. Now you will be in the majority area and love experimenting with the newer hairstyles. Your friends have helped you get a haircut and feel good. And going in for complete transformation is the best thing. With so many supporters, you are lucky. When you are staying in a metro place, and in a high profile city, change is always welcome. Once again Congrats and do post more experiences after hair cut!

@Muskan: Great for you to agree with your bhabhi and go for haircut. And why did you go for rebonding? You should have let your hair grow out. I must appreciate your husband to accept you with haircut. And getting it done before marriage is very good. Explains how much you value your ideas and freedom. how old is your son? If he is young, then 'joora; is OK. Helps the family bonds also. But once he goes to middle school it will be hard for him. So then you can take him for hair cut. Get it done at one go - he will like it and love the new life. Congrats for inspiring, Muskan!

@Muskan - when did your bahbhi get hair cut for you? Before she got her haircut. So she must have been inspired with your looks and convenience. How is it that she got her son's 'joora' cut and you still want 'joora' for your son?
It is very nice of your brother to appreciate your bhabhi and nephew's haircut.
When you are in a teaching profession, it is very important to be well dressed and smartly turned out. So your bhabhi did the right thing to take suggestion and help of her friend.
Please share more haircutting experiences on tis forum so that they are motivators for many more. Good luck and nice experimenting!

There are many options for a girl to style her hair be it in a joora, a braid or a pony tail.
Though pony tail is the choice of many of the girls, I would like to have opinions as to what is the best length for a pony tail... Neck length..shoulder length..mid back..up to waist or hip length ??

Hi I am Raj veer 30 yrs jatt sikh. I am a turbaned guy having my own business setup. I live with my wife harleen and my younger sis jasmeen. Harleen is a teacher and jasmeen is doing her MBA. Harleen was having heavy joora and jasmeen had long gutt. Last week they went for haircut. To my surprise they did not tell me anything before hand. Like always harleen did her joora and jasmeen did her gutt and they went out for some work together. I also left for some meeting.
In the evening when I returned home I was pleasantly surprised to see both of them.
Both were waiting for me in the like lobby with their heads covered with woolen mufflers. As I entered harleen said she wanted to show me something, I said ok . She removed her muffler and there was no joora instead her hair was Cut short below her shoulders and tied with a clip. It was looking amazingly beautiful. From sides behind the ears were coming out her hair flicks which were giving such a sweet look to her face. I just hugged her tightly and kissed her crown hair. It was smelling great.
After all this jasmeen interfered and asked me to get prepared for another surprise and removed her muffler and as expected now the gutt was not there. Though she did not get short hair like harleen but the hair were cut up to mid back from back and up to neck from front and sides. She left hair lose open. She was looking very sweet and then harleen asked me to touch and feel jasmeen's hair. It was soft and silky. It was a great surprise for me. Harleen and jasmeen look great now. Harleen goes to school with a hairclip pony and at home she does some rainbow joora using clutcher which she feels is very easy and comfortable. However jasmeen mostly keeps her hair open in college and tie a mid length pony at home. Its quite a different scenario at home seeing ponys and hairclips at home and both ladies playing with their hair.
Harleen is asking me to get my beard trim whereas jasmeen is even telling me to get my joora cut as well. Though I m bit hasitant to do either of the two. But for now I am loving to play with harleen's short, soft, sweet hair.
That's a nice surprise for you. Your wife and sister must be enjoying their new haircuts. Its so easy to carry short hair without any burden on their heads. I guess you can start with trimming your beard, its not a big deal now. Your wife may be feeling shy with her short hair seeing you having long beard. Also you will realise it would only free you from spending time on setting your beard daily in the morning and also relax your facial skin. Good luck

Muskaan its kind of story happening in any second home. Specially for working women pony tail cut is very convenient. Since how long have you and your bhabhi getting haircuts and what kind of pony tail do you prefer long or short.
Also did not your friends or neighbors ask you the reason for keeping your son's joori when you yourself is having haircut. Don't you feel burdened of daily doing joori of your son.

I am 19 years old sikh boy. I belong to an orthodox sikh family. I always fantacized haircuts, hairstyles but my family would disagree. But last year the situation was such that i fell from my bike and suffered injury on my head. The doctors had to shave off my hair to clean the wounds, although the wounds were not so serious, but cleaning was necessary. Then with four months down the line i had gud quantum of hair, but i wanted to style and trim them, without telling my family i went to a saloon to get a gur haircut. The barber washed my hair dried them and cut them to give me my desired hairstyle( spikes in front and crew cut on the sides.) then he used gel to pump up the spikes and shaped up my sideburns abd shaved my beard. Since that day i try new haircuts and now i feel nice and smart.

Well Mani i am also going to ask for my haircut from my parents in couple of days actually i had haircut 2 years ago and not after that, my hair is now neck length but is less in volume and is not dense and also little receded towards back so i want that you tell me how you feel about a buzz cut and do you think after taking a buzz cut hair will grow denser ????? Please help and also tell how i convince my parents as earlier when i had haircut they were very angry and scolded me alot pleaseeeeeee help me ??????
@mandeep hie friend. after buzz cut you will feel relaxed.barber will remove your all hairs and make them too short which will not come in your hands. buzz cut is the best . before headshave i had had also gone for buzz thats amazing . i loved that . my mom also likes that. if you want haircut then buzzing is best option.i have experienced both .i loved headshave more.both are amazing and one thing more i never pressurize anyone for haircut ,i should advise you to talk to your parents about this then go for right step .

you know you guys are worried about something that millions of people do all the time cutting hair is not some unforgivable sin. To stress over something like this is just plain ridiculous! i MEAN common guys were not living in the stone age anymore at least use some common sense. Focus on treating people better rather than what sitting on top of your head.
