But Sarneet you should get a shorter cut and enjoy hte lightness of 'judda-less' days with the side cut and the freedom of open hair! Best Wishes for your freedom!

What is the prob with ur mom .. why is she not letting u cut ur hair .. nd its since 4th standard .. it would be very hard for u to maintain judda in these circumstances .. u dnt call her mom since since that time .. so how have u managed nd tied ur turban nd judda in that age .. i guess in that age a kid cant tie his judda himself ..

Hey guys I really need your help, I am a 15 year old athiest girl. When we were little my family were all aloud to cut their hair but I was not. When my mom and dad. Got divorced my mother brother and sister turned gursik and took Amrit when I asked my mom if I'm aloud to cut my hair she said no. It is past my knees and takes 45 minutes to tie in the morning and I have full on facial hair. When I was in year 6-10 (in year 10) I get the odd comments about being hairy. But I'm still not aloud to cut my hair my mom said do it when u leave home legally I'm only aloud to leave home only when i am 18 so that's a no! She gives no reason or anything and because I am athiest we barley speak and i have no relationship at all with anyone in my family so some one please help me :)

@Punjabaan: I am not after everyone cutting their juddas. It is the society today that likes the clean look and the fashion is so nice. Also everyone would like to get into the mainstream and the options plus the convenience factor is so good when there is a haircut. Any person who has long hair and goes for a hsircut feels relieved and has a great experience.
I am a boy for your information. And when ladies opt for haorcuts it is so easy - so why make it difficult for boys?

@Trapped- Go and cut your hair.. Life is far better than keeping them.. I know how I keep them for 17yrs.. And, as Daddy said 'keeping a pistol for safety is better than knife'..
Life is all miserable for me before cutting hair..
But after getting rid of it, Im happy.. And, I am still same.. I personally adviced you Go and Live you life.. Cs, we live only once..

Man,
I am in high school and really want to get rid of my hair. Its a pain waking up at 6 in the morning and tieing my patka for 30 minutes.( since i cant tie it any faster). I also think that i am getting bald from the front of my head cuz of tying my juda. I was fine, before i didnt want to get a hair cut but one guy in grade 10 looked so bad when he had an patka but once he cut his hair he looked 20 times better. I also dont know how to tie a pagh. Please give me so ideas on how i can convince my parents to cut my hair. I am 100% sure that when i am around 24, i will cut my hair if my parents dont let me do it know but the thing is that i am getting balder, once i cut my hair will the hair on my forehead grow back cuz as of know my hairs start from almost half my head. I realy thing having a juda is a pain, pls help!:(

I feel very sorry for you. You rejoice at the thought of cutting your hair and at the thought of looking pretty. But ask yourself one question: is sikhi about keeping your hair long? Is that it? By letting go of your hair you let go of the oppurtunity of a lifetime.
You were born in a sikh family only to throw it away. What have you achieved? Boys, drinks, a smoke now and then? And have you helped yourself or COMPLETELY DESTROYED YOUR LIFE. Sister, I pray that you will come to your senses and think of the betrayal you have committed. Not just to the sikh dharam but to yourself. It is disgusting at how are so happy at the thought of lovely hair and beautiful looks. Do you not see that you havent gained anything but lost everything?

@Sarneet: Go for the short cut and maybe a ear lobe level bob. This will ensure a ponyless hair and if you do not like it remember - It is only Hair, it will grow back!
All the best and in Canada, you will get to experiment a lot. Each one for him/herself.
Go ahead and with courage!

i tell u my story as i came from traditional gursikh family and find turban as a burden and from last 3 years i was planning to cut my hairs but never done dat coz i know this will creat mess in my house but on 20 sep this year when i was tying my turban got in argue with my father as we are getting late for shop and i am have problem with my turban as i was not able to tie it and my father was shouting with me then i came to my sister's room from where i took seccior made ponytail and chopped it all ( that time my hairs are butt length) ant i cut it till my neck after coming back to lobby everyone is shocked the saw the pony in my hand and i said that from now we will reach to shop on time after dat i gone to saloon for styling and got my face shave. my parents didnt talked to me for 1 week after dat every thing is normal my sister told me dat i look more smart now and im also feeling very relax and from now onwards im not going to keep my hairs back & now i can smoke in open as erlier i used to smoke in lonly place.
Though I am not Sikh I find it sad you left your faith and moral values especially the smoking bit SMOKING KILLS PEOPLE THROW THAT FILTHY ROLL OF PAPER AND POISON IN THE DRAIN you don't want me to tell your parent about this do you!?! Also I think the reason you can smoke in public now is because your parents don't care about what will happen to you anymore.
Don't leave your faith and culture until you have something better to go to(I emphasise "better" drugs and alchohol do not fall under that category)

yo ya i wear a turban and im 21 and i was born and raised in america. my dad was normal back when i was little but then became amritshak when i was about 7 and he became stricter as time went by. I had a juda since i was born since my dad had the punjab mentality and kept it on me i never had a problem with my juda i didnt care when people made fun of my juda and patka....now i dont like having a pagh because ive noticed since ive been in high school and college all the punjabi girls like clean shaven guys (mohnay). many have even told me that they dont like guys with paghs because they are not good looking and look scary. they have told me i would look better as a mohnah. i have not met any punjabi girl interested in sardars so why do we keep paghs if our own girls dont like us???
Because your faith asks it of you.
