Those women are super-hot! I should have married an Ethiopian or Somali, but I have no idea if the culturally differences would be too much.

TRAVEL – It is cheaper when single.

Have you ever been at the lowest point in the Grand Canyon or surfed the rapids? Experienced oxygen deprived 14,000' in Colorado or perhaps 23,000' in a slow climb to Machu Picchu in Peru. My lovely wife is from Bogota, Colombia where we also have a home and a lady I met 20 years ago in my travels.

The world shrinks with better communication and cheaper air travel – don't limit your options – what I have never understood is why American women do not choose the same path when the opportunity is present.

I'm thinking it's because of concern for safety. I would love to travel more but I don't always have someone to travel with and so I'm a little leery of going to a foreign country I've never been to by myself and am not too keen on traveling with a bunch of strangers as part of a formal tour group.

How is it over in Cartegena? Or Medellin? Is it safe for a female to travel there alone?

It can be dangerous for a woman to travel alone. Depending on where she goes. It's safer to go with a group or another person.

Tour groups are pretty safe. I knew a woman in her 80's that was part of a club and traveled all over the world. For all I know she may still be alive. That was about 8 years a go and she retired.

NO

However you did make a great point and one I failed to consider.

A woman alone in the USA or in travel has additional concerns.

Good point however you never get to experience the culture when in a group

Tour groups can be fun but the only problem is that you have to follow whatever itinerary the group has...you can't necessarily do what you'd like and since you don't know the other people well, you hope that all of you get along well and have similiar interests. I'd really have to go out and research groups first before I'd go that route.

So I'm guessing that's not a very good idea? Oh well, guess that trip will have to wait until I can find someone or some tour group that I can go down there with.

That'd be awesome. I've been wanting to see more of South America (or anywhere for that matter) but never have anyone to go with at the times I'm available to go.

Anytime we are in S.A. YOU ARE WELCOME

I would not recommend unescorted international travel for any lady to Colombia or anyplace else however the people in Bogota are the nicest I have ever met in my many years of life.

President Uribe attended my brother – in - laws wedding – I was his best man.

Unlike Chavez he is smarter than a fifth grader – my last word on regional politics

True, although there are some groups that don't adhere to the touristy locations quite so much.

Even when traveling with a man things can get a bit out of hand in some countries. If you aren't familiar with the culture and area.

This lady new the group well and they traveled quite a bit together. You would have to stick with the group's itinerary and not always get to chose your path. It would, however, be safer than going it alone.

No,I haven't been to any of those places. But I do travel quite a bit. And you're right, traveling is MUCH cheaper when you're single.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Libra

Instead of retreating into your own little world, get out there and spread some love and joy to all those around you. Be sure to pay close attention to the things that make others truly happy - often it can be the simplest of things. Libra is the most sociable sign in the Zodiac and you'll be in your element at the moment. You don't need to go overboard, though, and pick up everyone else's tab!
