OK. Just got back from Dr. Kerendian and am starting a modified Optifast program tomorrow AM. SOOOOO NERVOUS!!! He was great btw, can't recommend him enough for anyone in the Los Angeles area.
Anyone have any recommendations on how to make these things taste better =D
SUGGESTION: I love the Orange flavor. I add a cap full of Cocunut extract and Orange Crystal Lite--it's great.

I am spending about $126 a week on the products plus $25 a week to see the dietician. It's expensive, but so worth it if you are ready to lose the weight! Good Luck!

Hi. I am starting the diet as soon as it arrives. I bought it on EBay. Dr wanted $269/case of the dry shakes. I got it for $244 no shipping costs. Look around, you'll find it. Good Luck

I have been reading all the posts and am surprised people do this apart from a doctor, but I wish everyone well. I'm in week 6, have lost 22 lbs. and have about 20 more to go. Have noticed more hunger and weakness the day after I work out (weights) which makes sense. My dietician said to have an additional shake/bar on the workout days if I want (she's a personal trainer). Also want to pass on a new variation I discovered tonight for the vanilla shake, I blend ice with the vanilla powder and water and add a Splenda hazelnut sweetener, the new ones they have for coffee. Very nice change of pace. God bless you all, remember it's 90% mental...

I have just started on the diet, I have been on it for about two weeks. I see people saying how much they've lost in such a short amount of time. Hi Alicia, how did you go on the optifast? i have been on a program with Optifast and Wesley Corporate Health for 10 months. I have lost 18kg. It has taken a lot of time but the benefit of this program is that they teach you how to eat properl, healthily, monitor your health regularly with GP, Dietician/Nutritionist, Sports Pschologist etc. It is expensive but i recommend it to anyone wanting a lifestyle change. I haven't lost as much as i wanted to but im not finished yet. and the good thing, is that i am now back on a normal diet (real food) and i am maintaining my weight.

Okay I am seriously considering going on Optifast. However, I am worried about the statistics. 95% gain their weight back? Not very encouraging. Has anyone kept their weight off with this plan?
No!!

And I am so discouraged that I can't even get the product here now! I was doing great and then they decided to stop with this and offer medifast!
I couldn't do medifast it made me sick! And I couldn't keep doing optifast800 where they quit this program. And since I have stopped it...I have gained more weight now than what I was from the beginning! I am so discouraged!

And I feel like I have just throwed away alot of money for nothing!!

95% of the people gain the weight back because they have not LEARNED how to eat better. There's nothing magical about optifast, eating 800kcals/high protein of anything will make you loose weight because you are eating less calories. If the program ends and you loose weight but you go back to eating the things that made you gain weight to begin with, you will obviously gain it all back. Healthy foods and exercise, that's the ONLY proven "lifestyle" change for permanent weight loss.

can you drink diet soda on this diet?

Can anyone tell me whether they were able to start the Optifast program the same day (or next day after) they visited the clinic, or did they have to wait until after the results of their medical work came back?

I have my first visit at the Optifast clinic this week, and I want to get started right away and not have to wait another week or so. FYI: My primary care physician has already told me that she approves of me doing the program.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Stick to it. Be honest with yourself. Are you adhearing to the diet exactly? If you aren't exercising at this point...you need to start. If you are exercising start doing a little more cardio, start challenging yourself a little more. Make sure you are drinking water and not diet sodas. All these things factor in to how well the diet works. I work at a clinic that uses this program and I see it work for many people.

I tried this diet and I thought it was the worst diet in the world. It cost me more than $5000 and the Dr. gave me no attention. The staff was okay and the office manager talked to much. They seemed disorganized. I lost more weight, by using Slimfast. Delightmedical was very expensive

Hi! I started the Optifast 800 9 days ago. It's modified - 2 shakes, 1 bar and 1 meal. The bariatric surgeon has me on it to lose weight before considering surgery. I started on the program the very day I was in his office. But I didn't waste time in getting the medical tests done. I must say, I'm feeling pretty good. I know I have that one meal a day and that gets me thru the shakes for breakfast and lunch. Also I have diet jello and broth if needed. I've lost 10.5 lbs. already and feel optimistic for the first time in a LONG time. Good luck if you started. It's not as bad as you'd think! Peace!

How long were you on the Optifast before you gave us and had you lost much weight? Maybe a different doctor - one with a heart - would make all the difference. I feel better with constant medical supervision. Good luck with whatever you decide. Peace!

Hi, just about to start the programme next week when it arrives in the mail. Nervous about spending lots of money and not succeeding. Also nervous about doing without my milky decaf coffees (about 6 a day!). I guess I am planning to have 2 shakes and a soup each day - does that sound about right?

I am on Optifast 800. What determines if I am put on 800 or 420? I recently had surgery and thus not active. In my personal opinion, 420 would be better for me. I haven't been on the program for a full week and have already lost 8 pounds.

Hey, I saw a doctor who actually put me on 2 shakes, 1 bar and two meals, staying at 1100 calories, I am losing about 4lbs a week. I love it. Dr. Caldron is great

my Dr. just recommended this program through a bariatric center. Comments on whether you are just doing the diet or do you have the other support systems as well?

I am doing Dr. Caldron's program. I tried tried the Optifast program, only to find it digusting. He actualy warned me that he rather not put people on it because it's really high on sugars. His thoughts was that it's a great product but it has it's advantages and disadvantages. He still placed me on Optifast, but modified it for me. It was great, I been on it for 4 weeks and lost 19lbs. Simple but yet I am watching what I eat. Has great support team. Nicole and S are great team.
