Ive been on it for 30 days. Ive lost 28 pounds. Just stick to it. One week I only lost 1 pound but it evens out over time. Make sure to drink plenty of water and to walk every day. You may also need to eat fiber pills. Trust me. Stick to it and pounds will come off. My sister did it about 4 years back. Se lost 100 pounds and yas kept it off all tese years!

I started the full program on Feb. 20th of this year and now into week 11 I just hit the 50 lb. marker. My doctor set a goal of 65 for me but my goal is to get to 80 lbs lost. The first week or two are the hardest getting used to it and seeing other people eat but if you stay focused, disciplined and as you see the lbs come off it will keep you motivated. Ive started to wear clothes that I havent seen in years. You just get used to the shakes and bars(try every flavor and stick with what you like)plus ive been going to the gym 3-4 times a week doing mostly cardio work on the bikes and treadmills and just now starting to actually lift some weights. As for the soups I prefer the tomato to the chicken and add tabasco sauce, not hot sauce (low salt, little calories)to satisfy my taste for spicy foods)a little Nathans spicy brown mustard(low calories and low sodium)a drop of lemon juice and some worstershire sauce (just a drop) to add to the flavor. You just have to stay focused, work out and as most importantly have some support form family and freinds and you can do this program.

I am thinking about doing the optifast program. I am concerned about losing energy and stamina. I have 3 kids and we are very active as a family. I enjoy running 3-4 times a week and doing aerobics classes. It goes against everything I believe in to not exercise at all or to just walk. I also don't want to loose my hair. I'm trying to grow it. Has anyone tried the plan with assistance of appetite suppressants?

Is Optifast something you can purchase online somewhere? I've been losing weight on a liquid program through a local hospital, but the monthly expense has gotten to be too much of a strain on our budget (it's in addition to the cost of the product). I've lost 50 lbs. so far and want to keep going.
Thanks
Sharon in Houston, It is so funny, This is the 1st time here for me, I have the same name & live in the same town and I was trying to find out the same thing as you! I did the Optifast Program a long time ago & everyone is right, it WORKS. I just started back on it, I know how it works so I also have no need to go through the pricey cost of the program again. I too, would like to find out if anyone knows where you can just purchase the product. I do know you can buy it on eBay, if you want to pay more for it. Thats what I did to start, hopefully someone out there can help us find somewhere online we can purchase it. Good Luck to you and Everyone else on the Optifast Program!

I have not tried Optifast. But have used Medifast. Info on the net states that the doctor who created the Medifast program was one of the original researchers involved with Optifast. They are said to be very much alike. You can purchase Medifast from their website. If you Google it you'll find all the info you need. Also, a doctor I spoke with said that he will supply his patients with Optifast if they want to loose weight but don't want to commit right away. Find a Doc that will sell you product on a trial basis. Perhaps you can address the issue of tiredness for me.

I started the optifast program about 3 weeks ago. I am on week 4 right now and have lost a total of 22lbs and my blood pressure has dropped significantly. I feel great but am still have the food cravings after 3 weeks. I am doing the modified fast so I get that one meal a day but those food cravings for things I used to eat won't go away. I.e. chocolate, pasta and bread.....any suggestions will help. I have ignored the urges and cravings and they go away for the meantime but always come back. I have the will power and determination to do this and have not sunk to those cravings.

Hi I have about 20 pondes to loose and I am going to go on th optifast program ...well sort of. I have purchased a case of Optifast 800 shakes. I am really not sure how the plan works. I know for sure I am not willing to go to the Drs or hospital based program. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm starting my second week on the program. I lost 7 pounds the first week, about 10% of what I need to lose. That's such great reinforcement. I had no problem just doing the Optifast 800. I generally did 3 shakes, 1 bar and 1 soup, so I had a variety. Before starting the program I had been working out, cardio and weights, about 4 - 6 hours a week, and hadn't lost anything in 3 months. The Dr. did suggest I not work out the first week, though when the dietitian called mid-week to see how I was doing, said I could go ahead since I felt so well. I did one workout, tried to keep it low key, and felt fine. Going back to regular workouts today. I'm hoping I can get a consistent loss of 2-3 pounds a week.

I started the same program you're on back in November. I lost 16 pounds in the 1st 6 weeks and signed up for an additional 6 weeks and lost 11 more. I was the only one in my group who wasn't on the full liquid diet and I can tell you that the 1 meal-a-day thing is really harder. I had similar problems with food cravings but found that they were easier to control if I strictly adhered to the timetable with my shakes. You might also change the time you're eating your meal. If you have the cravings in the evening, eat your meal for supper. If they are worse in the afternoon, try eating your meal for lunch. Or you might change it up every day. That way, you might trick yourself. Also, try chewing sugar-free gum when you have a craving or drinking a diet drink. I found that sugar-free jello was a real lifesaver. Those little cups are a free food if you eat only one. My dietician also told me that she'd look the other way if I cheated with raw vegetables, so I'd indulge in a few baby carrots now and then. It sounds like you're doing the right things, so you should be successful with Optifast. I'm very happy with my outcome -- it was relatively painless and effective. I'm now trying hard to maintain my results and hopefully lose a few more pounds in the process. Good luck!!

I am on day 4 of the optifast and although I have not weighed myself, I would not be surprised if I have lost 4 to 5 pounds. I don't know how you can workout 4 days a week, with only 800 calories per day you are not even getting the 800 that your body must have. We were advised not to work out. I have felt weak at times this week, but understand that you get your energy back on the 2nd week. You may be building muscle if you are lifting weights and that could be frustrated. If you are only doing cardio and no weights then there is something drastically wrong with your 3lb weight loss in two weeks, it's almost impossible not to loose if you are following this diet. I would discuss this with your dietitian and see if she/he could tweek your program. Good luck.

I noticed that weight is the biggest topic regarding Optifast. The underestimated benefit is my improved health. I no longer have to take oral medication for type-2 diabetes. A lot of people might detract you because you may gain weight after you're done but its all about learning to appreciate what food is.

I'm a lot more confident and happier now that I've been in a long time. I've lost 30 pounds in 3.5 weeks and look forward to prove I can stay fit after the program ends.

Hmm..less weights, more cardio. AND if you are drinking diet sodas, you should stop. Too much sodium will make you retain water.
