Glad everyone is doing well, great progress, way to stick to it! I'm on day 3 and I feel a bit 'off' but I haven't really been hungry, so far so good. I'm finishing my job here in Korea in April and have made a vow to myself that I'm not going home until I hit 180 or less, so I'm trying to keep that goal in mind during this process! It'll be so nice to surprise my family and friends, and to be able to buy a whole new wardrobe!

Good luck this weekend everyone, we can do it! You're all fantastic :)

The next day I gained the 2lbs I don't know why I didn't do anything different but I told me self everone else that is doing this is not better then me if they could do it why can't i so yes we are going to do this I'm going to do everything and anything for this diet I sure paid enough money for it and also my 8 years old boy won't tell me mom why are u big anymore. So as today I'm 222 again.
I stayed the same today too. Still at 222. I weigh myself everyday and need to stop. I'm leaving for London tomorrow, back on Wednesday so that'll force me off the scale for a few days. The body goes through adjustments, at times we retain water, million different reasons that could happen, but you know you're going to continue losing more and more weight by sticking with this. Today was the first day I tried soup which was good, I've had nothing but shakes since I started, I also tried a bar...it helps to switch it out a little. Are you having any trouble with constipation?

Hi Allie - I found the first week a little tough, better some days than others. I'm a little lightheaded in the morning but feel better once I got my shake down. You've got a great goal in mind, won't it be fun to surprise everyone! Hang in there, stick with it, you're going to do this!

. Constipation in my issue right now I went and got Supper colon cleanse 1800 and I'm trying it today bc I need to do something about that. Plz don't forget that flying may add 2 to 3 lbs but it's only water so don't be sad if that happens to you, after a week it drops down. I noticed that when I have 4 shakes and one soup a day I don't lose as much when I have five shakes a day and one cup coffee with Splenda and half and half and one cup of tea a day I lose faster. But i so need energy so bad I'm vary weak I don't know why. Hope u have fun on your trip. Today I'm 219.4 so that made my day.

Hi Everyone,

About the constipation, I find when I add that benefiber to the shake it is really helpful. Start small like with just 1 tablespoon and see how you respond. It has not taste or texture so I throw it into the shake.

I found that when on travel I can make a funnel out of thicker paper like cardstock and then pour my packet into a cold single serve water bottle and shake it up. Not as good of a result as having a mixer bottle but completely disposable which is good for areas of the world that have unclean water as hard to get mixer bottle to dry fully.

Taking an amino acid L-glutamine helps me with cravings and taking glucomanan fiber capsule fills me up on those days i am wanting food.

I lost 50 pounds on Optifast then regained 14 while on holiday and restarted 3 days ago. Fell off the bandwagon yesterday but have removed the problem items from my home and back on today.

Love the idea of using Easter as a goal. I will do it to. Because I am so fat and started out at like 278 I divided up my weight loss into phases to not seem overwhelmed. I hit my phase 1 goal of minus 50 lbs. Now phase 2 is again minus 50 pounds.

Glad we can all hang out here as I need support. I live overseas and colleagues are all healthy twigs.

I have started drinking green tea because I heard it helps with metabolism. Having a warm drink seems to fill me in a way a cold drink does not.

Once the pounds start falling off I get really motivated so to anyone who is struggling hang in there. We can do this and do it well.

Good luck to all.

Hi Mona,

I'm not from the Middle East but just here for my job. However it seems that the women once they marry in Iraq do get big. They seem to eat rice, beans, meat, lots of oil, and sweets are all around too. The women here do not walk much and mainly stay at home, Sometimes they go to the mall with relatives and maybe once a week out with their husband. Most local women I know live in joined families and if they lose weight then a nasty rumor starts in the community that their mother-in-laws (with whom they live) are not feeding them adequately. The culture is really different.

Was that also your experience with the culture?

My next job will be in Africa and I suppose that will be another surprise all together different from being in the Middle East. I have also lived in Korea, India, and Japan.

Isn't a colon cleanse a little too much? Is that what the doctor recommended? What about something like Miralax? I'm jealous about your 219, still 222 today. I lose so fast the first 2 weeks then it just sits there for the next 3 weeks before I start dropping again. I tried the chicken soup yesterday and thought it was awful, would much rather have a shake. Your weak because you're not getting enough calories in, are you active throughout the day with kids, etc? You might want to talk to doctor about adding one more shake? What about blood work, have they checked to be sure all your labs are ok?

Great idea about the water bottle and card stock to make a funnel. I travel quite a bit and that's a good trip if I get desperate. I'm leaving for London today for a few days and am just bringing my shaker cup with me, I agree with you, a warm cup of something just feels good, at night I'll have a cup of decaf English Breakfast tea and it just feels good. Glad to hear you're back on track Kay, you should be super proud of yourself.

. Omg Kay no lol that's not my culture thank God ...... I think your talking about other religion I'm a christian so we don't do any of that and also thank god I been in the USA for 20 years I go visit sometime to Israel and Jordan I do know what your talking about though, but about the food your right we eat lots of rice like in evey meal we have to have rice and bread and that's why I'm having a hard time I live on bread. I hope you keep on going with this diet because your the one that talked about this diet the most and after I read all the things you said that's why I started so plz don't stop so we all could do this together and help everyone that reads what we say. I tried the fiber it didn't work for me but I'm thinking about comamel tea I hope it works. And try to be safe in afrika you don't want to eat the food thay have anyways. So good luck and let me know if u finish the first week.

. Yes I was told it helps you lose faster, I'm trying to do everything I can to lose. I'm telling you having the soup and the bars slow you down I like the 5 shakes a day only that's what worked better for me and I hope you lose today so we could do this together now try your hardest to catch up to me and when u lose more then me I'm going to try to catch up to you so this way we help each other without knowing it. Ps I'm 218 today I was so happy. As for my blood work I was told that it's normal but I think your right having 3 kids 10 and under is so hard and I can't keep up with them and the diet.

Wow everyone!!!

Great to see the weight loss and the positive attitudes. Really it is not an easy plan but it works very well and when we are all standing around in our new trimmer outfits imagine how beautiful we will be.:-)

Nothing new from me so this will be a short post. I have never tried the bars because I do best when it is the same thing every day. When I am in the USA I will use some diet jello and crystal light to make Popsicles but I find I can easily take in too many extras that way since I like to eat.

Someone told me that adding cinnamon to the shakes can stabilize your blood sugar levels by reducing the spikes that happen when you eat. Maybe I will try it.

For me my hardest part of the day other than the evening is when I have to eat lunch with students because the lunches look good and we serve family style and lunch is a benefit of my job. But I have to remind myself how easily I could weigh 600 pounds and how losing weight will have more benefits then that one moment of eating. Hard sell sometimes ha ha ha

Hi Everyone,
My first weigh-in was today & I lost 10 lbs in 10 days, so I'm really pleased with that number. The doc says not to be disappointed if the number of pounds lost decreases from here. We'll see what happens.
What have you all noticed relative to the number of pounds you lost before you were actually down a dress size. My 10 pound loss has given me a better fit, but no change in size. Hopefully, the next 10 lost will result in a reduced dress size as well.

In terms of the products, I enjoy the chocolate shake the most and really like each of the bars too. I tried the tomato soup for the first time the other day & it was good. I added basil, herbs and nutritional yeast to boost the flavor. I figure it'll be good to have something savory to offset the sweetness of the shakes and bars.

I haven't been hungry but I have been yearning for greater variety. I just keep reminding myself that the fast is just for a moment in time. I'll be able to get the variety I crave in due time & in right proportions:-).

Best wishes to each of you as we continue on this journey of transformation!

Wow Kenya!
Fantastic.

For me my weight loss after the first week is somewhere between 2 and 3 pounds per week. I am really fat though so it comes off a bit faster than for someone who is not so heavy. I got stuck in a wheelchair for 1 month and that was when I lost only 2 pounds per week.(My very first zumba practice session with DVD I somehow ruined my knee. stupid klutzy me. It has taken me 6 months to be somewhat back to normal.)

My mother is doing this too at 72 years of age and she is losing about 1 pound per week with 2 pounds some weeks.

For shake variety you can add extracts and artificial sweetener. I have heard of some people adding crystal light to the vanilla to make different combinations. I find when I add more flavors I get more cravings so I just stick to the chocolate shake only.

How is everyone else doing? I am restarting tomorrow. I got seduced by the idea of weight watchers and then of course was unable to follow it and then put off the restart day by day claiming to start tomorrow. Now am up 1 pound and seriously remembering that no matter how miserable the food addict inside me screams about the shakes they are the only thing that has really worked well for me over the years. I am going to find some way to silence that food addict voice! It was a slippery slope starting with --oh I need to eat vegetables. well I eat healthy, well i will eat weight watchers to an all out of control 7 days of feasting on unhealthy crap foods. Those crap foods are so addicting and they make me feel so good. Now my rational self has awoken and realizes I will grow out of the new smaller sizes and have to run naked through the streets of this conservative city since they don't sell really big clothing. Time to be back on plan and be a winner instead of a whiner. ha ha ha

wish me luck.

Yes, Kay, you're right to let your more mindful self rule! While seeing footage of you running through town naked might make for an interesting CNN segment; it might be a bit too "extra" for the locals.

It's great that you & your Mom will be able to support each other. I hear you about the crap foods (sigh). I've been looking up recipes for healthier versions of my favorites, along with calorie counts. I swear, if I have to fast on shakes for two days each time I want to have some lobster mac & cheese, I'm game (lol). Just can't see giving up carrot cake etc.... forever.

Welcome back on the wagon.....

ha ha ha Kenya about CNN!
Not how I want my moment of fame, now if I had lost a lot of weight and was lookin' really good well that would be different but certainly not all the flab bouncing around.

I have one friend who allows herself (after reaching goal weight) 2 nice meals per week and her meals include a sweet and an alcoholic beverage. She finds that does not cause weight gain but she is eating normal portion and in company of others. A set meal not a buffet sort of thing. It sounded reasonable to me so perhaps I will try it too once I hit goal weight. She usually eats it out and eats half the restaurant portion since some of those places serve enough for a family of 4! She does not seek out low cal versions of food and has the real deal. The rest of the time she is on her maintenance plan. Sounds like a good compromise to me.

How much weight would you like to lose? I want to lose 125 more pounds. I'm 5ft 2 and weighed in at 242. Have gone back up a bit after initial 50 pound weight loss.

Kay,
My goal is to lose between 90-100 pounds. And, I'll start doing my victory dance around 50 pounds. I'm hoping that 50 pounds will put me back in a size 16 (or smaller), currently I'm in a size 18/20 (ugh). So far, the almost 15 pound loss have given a little more room in my clothes but definitely no size change. I'm waiting for the moment I look in the mirror & can see myself coming back into view:-).

Hi Kenya,

I did not see a size change until around 20 pounds but I am short and have a huge stomach. Then from 30 to 50 pounds my sizes dropped quite fast.

Today is day 2 of my restart. I cleaned all of the food out of my apartment so even if I would like to cheat, short of asking neighbors for food, there would be no way. It would be a 2 mile walk out to the road to get a taxi to go and get food unless of course I go on the once daily bus that serves our school. I have a dear colleague who is looking to make sure I am not on that bus. So I will have to be successful.

Good luck to us!:-)

I have found that the first 5 days are so rough for me if I do not take extreme measures I will not be on plan. ha ha ha I would like to be in an 18/20. I am bouncing between a 2x on top and size 3x/24 for pants. When I started I was a 34 pants and 4xtops fit.
Hopefully as we move forward we will both lose weight. The program does work and all of a sudden people around you will start saying how skinny you look and your clothing will just start to fall off. I find elastic pants very helpful as it is traumatic for me to throw out so many clothes and the elastic ones stick around longer. Now for keeping it off you can bet I won't have anything elastic. ha ha ha

My big challenge will be holiday in the USA. Because it has things I really enjoy eating. In the past I have rewarded myself with buying whatever to make it through the very long plane rides. I have also loaded up on food in the USA that I can't get where I am living. But I have a while to get strong before those events happen.
Kenya

#5729 Jan 27, 2014
Yes! Getting rid if all of the food in the fridge was a great move. So, is having the neighbor police your bus riding habits:-). With that kind of discipline & support you're destined to be successful.

You've already done fantastic with your weight loss! It's inspiring to hear that you've lost & are continuing to lose. Sometimes I'm afraid that my will power will cave in & send me running out the door in search of a good lobster roll! But, when I remember how I've been avoiding taking pictures & not feeling like I even look like myself---I refocus and determine to stay the course.

I, too, wish the best success for everyone on this journey. It's a lot more challenging than you can understand unless you're in our position. Question: have you found that women tend to be far more critical & judgemental when observing your weight gain?
