Thank You Ladris.

Five days of fasting, I did cheat here n there with a bite. Have lost 5 lbs. I feel good. Hope for being more regular and see weight loss.

Ladris..for holidays I plan to take my Diet Coke topped with ice and sip it slowly just like I would do with alcohol. Or keep urself busy with talking talking n talking...ctach all the gossip or start one ( Lol)...joking!!!

Jenny, thanks for the suggestion, I am just not a fan of diet sodas in general, so I stuck with water. It is actually iadris, not Ladris, but I might just have to change from that, it gets mis-read all the time.

I made it through by staying out of the kitchen as much as possible as well as eating my meals on time, so I wasn't tempted. I was surprised at how easy it was, even with my in-laws. I also kept active with some of the kids to keep from wanting alcohol and more food.

I am down 13 lbs in 21 days, so I am pretty excited. I have started weight-lifting again as well since the weight loss seems to have helped the pressure on my knees.

Hello, not sure who remembers me but I did Optifast 800 from 1/25/10 thru end of that year. I did full fast for 4 months straight. Started to eat off and on after that and through the end of the year, I either was doing really good or really bad. When I did full liquid fast, I did great but not so much with the food. I did manage to lose 120 lbs in all by the end of 2010 but NOT without problems. October 2010, I had my first gallbladder attack (unknowingly). On Christmas 2010, I had my 2nd attack but this time it was diagnosed. I had my gallbladder taken out in January 2011 and gained back about 3/4 of my weight. I am wanting to do Optifast 800 again starting this January but I PLAN on doing it right this time (full fast with gradual transition into food). The reason for my post is hear from others with similar story but have gone back on Optifast with no problems.

Yes, I have been on and off optifast over the last few yrs. Sorry to hear about your gall bladder trouble, thort that only happened with the op's for weightloss. I lost 12kg (26.4 lb) but was never on full fast, more transitional diet, just having an optishake for breakfast and sometimes dinner but a main meal as well, lean meat and vege or salad.
Not had any problems going back on optifast 800. Prefer vanilla or strawberry, not into coffee so assume i would not like the coffee one, choc was too strong for me too.
Can just buy it online from Radius Pharmacy here in New Zealand.

I am in week 3 of the 12 week all shakes! I'm so ready to eat! I'm driving myself NUTS over it! I am in Texas and I get 6 shakes a day. Based on my BMI. I was getting 7shakes but after losing 14 lbs in the first week I dropped to 6 a day. I get bars and soup week 5 and then start transition week 13. I have my week 3 weigh in Wednesday but as of week 2 end I lost 20lbs. But like I said I am really craving food, just to eat not because I am hungry :( this is hard so to hear this is the easy part is VERY discouraging to me :(

I'm getting ready to start tomorrow morning. I think I am mentally prepared because I want this so badly. I had a surgery go wrong in 2011 and it took me 9 months to heal. During that time I lost 65 lbs and felt great when I was done healing. In the last 3 months I have put most of it back on despite working out 5 days a week :-(. I feel horrible and my clothes do too!! I hope that is enough motivation to keep me going.
Reading what all of you are going through helps me tremendously!!

My week 4 weigh in was had me down 16 pounds total. I wasn't as happy about it being such a small number, but then I thought back to all the diets I had tried where I didn't lose anything more than maybe 5 lbs after months, so I reconsidered that it is progress, so I am pretty happy with it.
Tiffany, going without food isn't by any means easy. What makes it work for me is that I don't have to think about what I want, I just grab a shake. Are you allowed sugar-free gum? It might be you miss chewing, I do, and gum helps me. Keep at it!
Cathy, I was warned in the literature that the doctors, that are supervising me, gave that said gallbladder issues can happen because of the diet, part of why I am glad I am being supervised. I wouldn't have tried something this extreme otherwise. I really hope you have less issues this time around so you can get to keep your weight off.
Lorraine, glad to hear you can get back onto it easy enough to help with maintenance. I don't like the chocolate much either (I have it like 2-3 times a week just for variety).
Heather, getting mentally prepared really helped me. They asked if I wanted to wait to start on a Monday (this was a Thursday), but I just wanted to get started. I was mainly concerned with the holidays coming up, but then realized that if I waited until the new year, I would probably just have additional weight to lose. I was surprised that Thanksgiving wasn't as hard as I expected, mainly because it wasn't at my house, so I wasn't the main person cooking. Good Luck!

Ok! I'm on day 4 and my clothes are feeling looser - so I'm feeling good! It has not been easy, but hasn't been terrible either. I love the taste of the shakes....lol. I've cheated with a couple of stalks of celery just to be able to chew. My dizziness has gone away for the most part. I'll weigh on Monday and find out the (hopefully) good news!!

I need an optifast buddy!!!!! Anybody out there that can help me? I've done it before but due to time and money I am trying to do it on my own this time and have found it difficult.......anybody out there that is willing and able to do this with me??????

Count me in! But I will be doing 4 shakes and a protein/veggie evening meal. I've been close to goal for 3+ years now (having lost 100+ lbs. with Optifast). Up and down the last 10-20 (now 20-30!). Time to get back on track, since the holidays are about over and (thankfully) healthy eating will become the "in" thing to do again!!! I always feel SO much better when the food is under control again!! Here's to a happy, healthy New Year!! WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

Marye you are a godsend! I restarted today and figured I'd get a jumpstart on the new year. I am doing 3 shakes and a meal. I initially lost over 50 pounds and have regained almost 20 and had 10 still to lose so I am looking to lose 30. YES WE CAN DO THIS> I am 100% better when I am in control of my weight. I was doing great til my breakup and then sortof lost it over the last few months so I need to catch things before its too out of control. Hi sheri! Long time since we were together on the board!:) I agree, the more the merrier!!
I kinda got an unintended early start to the Optifast. Depsite having had the flu shot....gotit anyway, just an abbreviated version of it.
Felt MISERABLE for 2 days and had no appetite for anything. I forced myself to down a chicken soup and one shake for the last 2 days.
I stood on the scale this morning and was down NINE (9!) pounds in 2 days (no throwing up, no stomach issue, though), so I decided since I was already used to it, I might as well carry on! I know some is probably dehydration, but 320 calories a day probably helped some too. LOL!
Hope you are both doing well today.
I had 1 shake this morning, several hot teas, and am drinking a soup right now.

Good for you..........I think! I am back on track today, too many leftovers leftover from Christmas but so far so good today, I know that if I just get a week or so under my belt it will be autopilot from there. I am looking forward to a new start for the new year its been a rough 2012 and 2013 has to be better and definately slimmer! Keep up the great work even without the flu!

4 shakes and 1 small meal (omelette with peppers and cheese and a piece of whole grain bread). NO SUGAR since December 25th!!! Not much cravings for the bad white stuff anymore, and that is HUGE for me!!!!(I own the largest sweet tooth in North America).
Down another 1/2 lb. this morning!

Good for you! I've been good as well this is day two and I have not gone near the scale as yet........I'm going to wait awhile. I've been doing the modified fast of 3 shakes and a small meal which is the equivalent to 5 shakes and no food. I'm excited to have a jump start on the new year. I just want 2 weeks under my belt then it's auto-pilot! Great job WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!

Today is day 4 and it went well........I'm psyched as these first days are the toughest. 3 shakes, 6 oz of chicken,apple and lettuce with balsamic and a good amount of h2o. excited to have a jump start on the new year.......at 3-4 pounds a week i know i will be already feeling better by months end!!!! WE CAN DO THIS!!!! Hope you guys are doing well, please keep me posted :)

Hey, everyone! I went on optifast December of 2009, lost the 60 lbs I needed to lose. I am an avid exerciser. So after I came off the liquids, finished the program, I had done good staying at goL weight until I had a surgery last August. I was out of exercising for 8 weeks. i resumed running, working out, etc. but also resumed bad eating habits. Since then I have regained 25 lbs. Unfortunately, finances are where I just canNOT go back to a doctor supervised program again.

For anyone who might can help....my question is about restarting and the exercise. I am enrolled in 2 half marathons and 4 5k runs over the next three months, which requires a LOT of conditioning runs. I want very bad to get this weight back off, and of course, quickly! I know it can be done with optifast but with me running and burning 4-500 extra calories every day, will the calorie deficit bee too much to be healthy and also to make it through 13.1 miles when I need to!?! Do you suggest a form of the modified plan, or full plan quickly and then go back to food? I am extremely discouraged I've let myself get back to this!! I know better. But as our income and expenses get tighter every month, it gets a LOT harder to feed my family eating healthy!
