Hip hop originated in many places, all of which were clubs in the United States.
Although hip hop is good for people who need a voice and to express their emotions through the style of dance and music, hip hop negatively affects youth because it encourages violence with both society and the parents of teenagers, references drugs and tobacco, abets using profanities, and averts attention from education.
Body of Paper/ Research
encourages violence
when there is a violent section in a movie, there is usually hip hop, or similar music, that is being played along with the scene
encourages kids to fight with their parents b/c there is a controversy between the parents disliking the music and teenagers who like the music because they like to rebel against parental rule
references drugs and tobacco
in one of Snoop Dogg's music videos, he and another star are illegally buying drugs
"If a kid sees some big rap star on MTV, with expensive cars... expensive jewelry and living the thug lifestyle, they are going to want to be just like them. Why shouldn't they? If it appears that anyone can make a billion dollars in the rap industry, as so often projected, they are going to take a shot at it."
hip-hop's negative impact on kids quote
abets using profanities
almost all hip hop and rap music have curse words
as mentioned before, teenagers feel like they are rebels when they get to sing curse words in a song
averts attention from education
kids concentrate more on listening to music than concentrating on their academic grades
"Too many kids are growing up without a decent education because they are dropping out to pursue a record deal, live a thug lifestyle, or choosing to become drug kingpins in order to "get paid." Communities, generations and legacies suffer because of the negative visualizations, ignorant hip-hop stars and record company executives, producers, and urban contemporary mediums like BET and New York's HOT 97 promote all the negative (information)."
quote academics- Hip Hop's negative impact on kids
Hip hop is not a good influence on today's youth.
the culture and the music encourage violence, references drugs and tobacco, and abets using profanities
Because of hip hop, today's youth are much more immature, exposed to bad influences, and able to destroy their future.

Rap and Hip Hop may have some negative influence, I agree, but that redneck music that the white boy listens to is equally as bad.

rap music is just as bad or good as you make it. the rappers now are talking about sex money drugs and all that.. thats the majority of the rappers now but i as a 14 year old listen to anything and everything techno rap, rock jazz, country , as long as it sounds good. rap music is all up to the rapper to portray unfortunately rappers like lil wayne , 50 cent , 2pac have tarnished rap's reputation. dont be too fast to single out rap music as a bad influence . actualy listen to the lyrics in the song before you pass judgemnt on a whole like rappers like zion i , gang starr and the underground rappers rap about more positive topics such as rising above issues and problems.
You have to understand that rappers, no matter what the content of the song is, rap to entertain.
Now if kids learn ethics from entertainment, then that means the parents fail to inform them the differences between entertainment and ethics.
When we mature into adults, we have enough sense to know that a rap song is only a perspective that comes from the person performing the rap. We don't have to share those perspectives, but it gives us information on how all people have different perspectives.

It's called "Maturing one's own perspectives to optimize life."
If I did what Bushwick said on one of his psycho songs and kill multiple mofos, then I'd go to jail as a serial killer and fail in optimizing my life.

Kids should learn to do the same, PARENTS.
