I am more a fan of the Richard Donner superman of 1977 with General Zod in the classic opening on Krypton "You will bow down to me Jer'al...YOU, and one day, YOUR HEIRS!!!". If you havent seen it watch it!

However, i just saw the Synder's version of Superman and noticed he is trying to capture the Donner style of serousness and writing so here is hoping it works out. Synder is a good director and his Watchmen (the ultra extended 4hr edition) was pure brilliance (its a Superhero film).

Superman has been CRAPPY after 1977. The worst has to be Brian Singer's Superman of 2007...HORRIBLE!!

I think the general public don't really care much for Superman anymore because its been done so badly for decades. So they are tired of it.

My guess is Star Trek Into Darkness is going to be bigger.
