Did the pilot have the fish or the chicken?
He's the Capt-if he was smart, he would have had the chicken.

If he were on NWA, he'd have had a coca-cola!

You are misinformed. The $50.00 fee is not required for a 15 year old. The 15 year old can travel as an adult, solo. Unless you requested or were offered and accepted the service for Unaccompanied minors, the only person to blame for the $50.00 fee is yourself.
As far as charging you a standby fee, I agree with that. On Southwest Airlines, they make you pay the difference between the fare you paid and the "Anytime" fare, which can be expensive, so $50.00 is cheap. Is it fair to Continental Airlines to have passengers book cheaper flight times and then want to fly on more desirable flight times? Of course, you probably don't. So either book that earlier flight time or pay the fee. I don't care for the reason, if your meeting was over early or whatever, PAY THE FEE or WAIT for your originally flight.
Thank you Cliff Claven, oops, its David K. When the agent refused to issue a boarding pass unless I paid $50 for my daughter, what were my choices? Cancel her trip and loose the $400 I had already paid or 2) pay the extortion at the gate. Did I also mention that Continental only had one agent and a line that took an hour to get through?

Sorry, your logic is flawed, most airlines are happy to fill an empty seat on an earlier flight because they know they then have a chance to sell the now vacant seat on the later flight.
