Bangladesh suspends magazine over controversial cartoon

DHAKA (Reuters) - Bangladeshi police broke up a protest march by hundreds of Muslims after Friday prayers over the publication of a cartoon which they say offended their religion.

Bangladesh suspended publication of Alpin, a weekly satire magazine of leading Bengali daily Prothom Alo, and its publishers apologized and appealed for forgiveness.

A cartoon in which a small boy referred to his cat as "Mohammad cat" provoked the outrage. The protesters said it was a deliberate attempt by the cartoonist to ridicule Islam's Prophet Mohammad. Read more

Mohammad was a very weak man who assassinated anyone who insulted him or his religion.

His followers emulate him like God himself.

So, they believe they MUST go on a rampage when Mohammad is insulted, since this is the example they were given of "perfect character".

Jesus taught, if a man strikes you on the cheek (insult) then offer him your other cheek.

Mohammad did not know Jesus or follow his teachings, so Muslims do NOT honor Jesus at all.

And this is the clearest evidence of these words being true, the fact that Muslims believe they are supposed to control everyone who disagrees with them and suppress insults, even with murder.

It seems some hidden energy is working behind this kind of publication. My feeling is that all of us should remain united at this point in time when the nation is going through an interface of past and future. We should not allow the Mir Jaffars should destroy the nation and must be careful in talking about politics. We already lost lots of opportunities in the past to make the nation proud and self-reliant in many aspects of the lives of the average Bengalis. Unfortunately the freedom came only to the corrupt people who made their fortune beyond imagination. Should we bring more crisis so that the greedy gets upper hand?

This is not a religious war. This is simply the expression of some sentiments by the peace-loving people. Why you frame all mulims kill non-muslims. You should be mature enough before making a general statement like this. There are bad and good people in every faith. Moreover,the issue is on Bangladesh where people of all faith live side by side. This is simply a foolish statement. I suggest you learn about religion first before criticizing any religion.

I guess it is wrong to put people to jail as 90% are muslims and they respect religion. We like to see some reconciliation and productive communications between the groups involved in the crisis and find out why this kind of cartoon came out when whole nation is preparing for election.

LEARN from Islam. Ahmed Deedat tried placing an ADVERT on the Back Page of the TIME Magazine where it states "ISLAM The ONE WORLD CONSTITUTION."
