Big return for big men in Cavs' win over Bobcats

Full story: Akron Beacon Journal

CLEVELAND: The backs are feeling better and, now, so are the Cavaliers. Ben Wallace and Zydrunas Ilgauskas, both out or limited because of back injuries in the past two weeks, were on the floor together Sunday.

Wow, they're on their own court, and barely beat a team that is almost 20 games below 500. How impressive. Boy, that Szczerbiak sure is turning out to be something huh? Another McGinnis, er I mean Hughes....

West brings alot of new abilities to the Cavs, but shooting is not one of them. Like his ballhandling, ability at running the fast break, and making layups thru traffic. Can the 3's and he will become a real asset.

Let's get this team together and see what happens. Sasha is playing his first games with the new crew and Boobie has yet to do so. They need some playing time to get that chemistry. There are spates when the Cavs look spectacular, then they slump. It will also be a plus if Wally starts to hit shots. RIght now he fits better than Hughes but is adding no more scoring punch or consistency.
On a related subject: Varajao is a great rebounder and defender but looks clumsy and uncoordinated when he is handling the ball. I love the guy but I can't see where he and/or his agent think that he's worth top-tier money. He is a role player and nothing more.

Well said. Fact is, Wally will start hitting shots. His play is not hurting the Cavs right now however because Sasha seems to be hitting on all cylinders and will get more minutes as he gets into game shape, Jones is still hitting outside shots, and Devin Brown is playing great all-around basketball. Anything that they get from Wally is a bonus. If he doesn't end up fitting in (which I really hope he does) his contract will be extremely attractive next year as trade bait.

I get a kick out of these idiots (like GetReal) who are bringing up Hughes name left and right because Wally is shooting poorly. Larry Hughes did not want to be in Cleveland, and none of you idiots wanted him here. He is off in Chicago "having fun" while Wally despite his struggles right now is playing hard trying to help the Cavs win. How about rooting for OUR guys instead of knocking them down to your level!

Go Cavs! Big one tonight!

If you've actually watched the Cavs play the Bobcats before you'd notice that all our games against them have come down to the final few minutes. We generally win, but that team plays all out and therefore don't get blown out by us.

The Bobcats came in on a winning streak and are only 3-4 games out of the playoffs. GetReal probably should just GetLOST...

Also, wasnt it roughly 1 month ago that everyone was on this site bitching and moaning about how we'll never get rid of Larry Hughes' disgusting contract and Drew Gooden disappears for whole weeks without producing as a starter and we need to get tougher around the basket...

Have a little faith guys...

What about the pissing about how Ferry is an idiot and won't make a trade, blah blah blah. As soon as they made the trade, I felt that Ben Wallace, while needed, might end up being the least important of all four in this trade. Other than him, we got an outside shooter, an inside shooter, and a real point guard (and I actually like West as a person). Even if we don't go to the finals, I like the players on the team right now, both professionally and personally, which we probably haven't been able to say for awhile.

Just look at how you sound. The team (Bobcats) is almost 20 games below 500, and you make excuses saying for getting beat by them by saying "they were on a winning streak". It's so pitiful, the Cleveland mentality.

Correction, you and your negative, doom and gloom mentality are pitiful. Fact is, the Bobcats are 18 games under .500 but their 24 wins this season include wins against Boston, Orlando, Utah, Portland, Golden State, and the Cavs. They play hard against good teams.

The Cavs won the freakin game, and competed tonight for 3 quarters in Orlando until they ran out of gas. They are on the right track and will make a nice playoff run this year.

Go ahead, get ready for your next negative post bashing Wally, Mike Brown, Danny Ferry, etc. That mentality is truly pathetic.

AND Charlotte was getting hammered, I think they were down double digits in the 3rd. I'm not saying it's great they came back, but you can't say you suffer watching the Cavs when they're trouncing a team for at least 36 minutes.

GetReal... seriously, which family member of yours was fired by the Cavs organization? What is the deal? You have a giant grudge against LeBron, the Cavs franchise, and evidently the whole state of Ohio, so what gives? If not, maybe you just starve for attention and get that here on Topix? Again, GetLost...

The bottom line is this... the Cavs will be better when their pieces get healthy, they will make a run, no team in the East wants any part of them in a 7 game series, and Ben and Wally's contracts come off the books after next season, just like Larry's. We are in an IMMENSELY better place now than we were before the deadline, and anyone who cant see that is blind or stupid, flip a coin...

Last thing, Cleveland fans' short term memory loss...

-Since LeBron started carrying the Cavs to the playoffs the last two years, all we've heard was "the Cavs suck", "Lebron needs help", "they'll never win a title with Drew Gooden picking his nose under the basket for half the game"... Ferry gets roasted this whole season for not doing anything to improve the team, this offseason and via trade... Ferry does EXACTLY what you people want him to do, and they lose a game or 2 and WHAM, right back to negativity.

Talk about typical Cleveland mentality... wow guys.
