DILBECK: Lakers win, but there's still an uneasy feeling

Full story: LA Daily News

They found a way, but not an answer. Did the scrape-and-claw routine. Sort of made like Indiana Jones, and made it up as they went along.

We're on track man, there's a light at the end of the tunnel. But more guys have to step up next time. They were lucky Sasha's shots were falling in. Need to blow-up the Celts right away at the first half on Thursday.

The Fakers? That's real original. On top of that, that name makes absolutely no sense. Great post.

Hello,
I am a spaniard from the Boston area and I am with "my man" Gasol to death, last night he clearly looked tired, It's not that he had a bad game, he just wouldn't try to go to the basket or force anything, again I think he was physically "dead", defensively I think he did a decent job, I am sick and tired of hearing, "he's soft", we know he is not a physical player, that's not his game, but I think he tries to play hard, anyway, I hope he can get his strenth back and be the Gasol from the regular season, We need him.

Thank you.

It's obvious that the league influences the outcome of games. Look at the past its all there. Jordan winning title on fathers day after his dad passed. Wade and his record free throw attempts. The Spurs and Suns last year. Lebron and Cavs making it last year. Game two of this years finals. It's begining to be a joke. I love the game of basketball but, can't stand watching games anymore. Did anyone really believe Boston wasn't going to win the finals this year. The NBA riggs what they think is best for ratings and the league as a whole.

I really dislike how the refs officiate the Laker games. Its no secret that when refs officiate Laker away games, the calls overwhelming go for the home team. But when the Lakers play at home, the home refs appear to play by the book. Its unfair. And Im not even a Lakers fan, just a fan of sports.

Guys seriously... Please tell me you dont think these games are not already decided? Its so obvious... I haven't watched Baskeball since 1991 - Now that the Celts are in the playoffs I have been watching. What the heck happened to this sport? Its sooooo scripted? The referees are obviously pushing teams in certain directions. I am not saying against the Celts, I am saying for whatever they want the outcome to be.

How can the Lakers only go to the foul line 10 times in game 2 and the Celts like almost 40?? That is COMPLETE BS. Then in game 3 - Its exactly the opposite? Please.

I have decided to stop watching the remaining games as its obvious the league is pushing for a 7-game series and then will push the winner of their choice. To deny it is comical.

What a shame... Used to be a good sport. Money has taken over to the point where refs are now involved in pushing games to where they want them to go.

The LAKERS got over the hump with a win. Now, I believe the series will become more intense and we should be in for a show. The celtic defense is tough and the LAKERS need to fight through it, which they did last night. I thought this would go six with the LAKERS winning, now I believe it goes seven with one of the most dramatic playoff seventh game ever. LETS GO LAKERS.

Money talks and BS walks. The NBA wants a good finals match-up and for it to go 7 games. At issue is the huge TV bucks involved. Thus, they control the flow of fouls during the game, just enough to affect the outcome of the game.

Hey packfan1972,
You’re totally wrong, I’ve always been a Gasol fan, FYI he played for Barcelona (my team), so I’ve been watching him since he was a kid, second of all I was so glad he got to the Lakers, even though I am a CELTICS fan, because now he has a chance to do something or get somewhere, and last but not least, learn some Spanish, or I should say Castilian, that way I may understand what you’re saying.
P.S. I follow every Spanish player, Calderon is not bad either I hope he gets out of Toronto and joins Pau.

I absolutely love how everyone thinks the foul disparity was from bad refs. the fact is the celts drove to the paint more, with more aggression, and then got the fouls.

If you all noticed in Game 3...the foul disparity was reversed....but you may have also noticed that the Celtics weren't nearly as aggressive and didnt drive the paint, like in Game 2. Actually, the lakers were driving the paint.

Don't you all understand. If you looked at actual total fouls. The difference didnt REALLY exist. It was just when you looked at fouls that resulted in trips to the line.

Lakers Fans...stop complaining (although we ALL know that if you lose the series, you will be crying foul all the way to next years playoffs)

Celtics Fans, lets hope our team starts driving more again and that Garnett and Pierce actually make a few shots.

Bottom-Line: Celts played like shit offensively and still almost won the game.

I hear everyone talking about the Lakers trying to play Boston style of play, but I guess everyone forget that the Lakers can play both styles. and are pretty good at it. Also the Lakers are not a bad defensive team themselves. The proved that they can play a half court game and win, when they put the Jazz and the Spurs away. I dont know why no one wants to give the Lakers credit for their defense on Boston last night. No that defense was lacking in the first two games but that was because of the officiating. The refs would not allow them. I am not blaming the refs but thats how it is.

Fouls or no fouls I just cannot wait to see the dumb look on all the Flakers faces when they lose in Boston... It's "entertainment" and big bucks and no one makes it more obvious then the NBA when is comes to deciding which team will win a championship and how they distribute fame among players... It's an "everyone gets a piece of the pie" business, in their case it also includes the refs…

Anybody whose played a lick of serious basketball knows that there is contact on every offensive/defensive attempt by a player. The disparity is caused when the calls are lop-sided for/against a team. In the case of the games played in Boston, the calls were one-sided towards Boston. In Game 3, the calls were lop-sided towards LA. Regardless of whether one team is agressive or not, if they are called for fouls more often then the other team, it alters the end result. Ultimately, its up to the refs to maintain the balance needed for a good game. Maybe that way, we can stop seeing these games where very good players are called for fouls earlier in the game, and are sidelined due to fear of commiting more fouls. Having the key players out of the game early for ticky-tack fouls alters the nature of the game.

Don't give me that aggressive bull$#&*. Now your staring to sound like that pigmey crybaby Doc Rivers. Only difference is Rivers campaigns for the fouls on the sidelines. Lakers WERE agrresive in Game 2, but when they attacked the paint, they got mauled with no call. While on the other end, the floppers in Green and White were getting calls if a Laker looked at them too hard. So what happened? Without the calls, the Lakers stopped driving, and THAT's where the refs whistles decided the game. Their BS calls set the tone early and made the Lakers have to play timid all night.

The Celshits ran out of gas last night cause they're old and tired. Same thing will happen in Games 4 and 5. And they better win this one, cause you won't see them in the Finals for another 12 years. While the Lakers take the next 3 rings, at least.

The Lakes were damn damn lucky last night. It should have been a blowout. Still, let's take the win but last night was a chance to really hurt Celts morale. Aside from Sasha and Farmar, the others didn't really play well. In their practice today, Radmanovic, Sasha, Fish, and Farmar better practice sinking those 3s with a defender's hand to their face. Let's have Chris Mihn defend Pau, Ronny, Luke, and Odom and put a hand to their face while they attempt those short jumpers. The Celts will toughen up their D next time and we need to simulate going up against those bruiser bodies they have. Oh and those freethrows; let's have Magic in practice to get them to sink those freebies.

Btw, where's Ariza?
