Twitter is an easy-to-use tool that allows sports organizations and athletes to "speak" directly to their fans.

For those who don't use it, consider the implications of a third-party doing the talking for you.

Social media, and Twitter in particular, doesn't have to be time-consuming, and it provides most of the value associated with a personal appearance.
