i do hope artest would turn out to be a good fit for the team. This sort of reminded me of 03-04
where they added guys like malone and payton but still ended up being punked by the supposedly irrelevant Detroit Pistons. It was easy to understand why they needed Malone but how could we even figure out a guy like payton? While he was good enough (as he would always proclaim) during his younger years he was not even up to the task of guarding Billups etc. The problem with him is he talked a million tons of good game during his heyday he was so much a disgrace when he woke up one morning and discovered he does not have it anymore. He is so much the self assured and loudmouth he and Charles Barkley could be in a talkshow where they could blabber their perceived greatness while having none ( ring) to back it up...

If I remember correctly...Payton got a ring with Miami. He actually even got playing time due to injuries and played pretty well. I think when he was in LA, he was unhappy with his playing time and the triangle...Phil wanted to keep him "fresh" for later playoff games and Payton didnt like that. Also, Payton wanted to post up smaller or weaker guards, but that totally goes away from the triangle.
