I am a huge fan of VC but I think giving up Courtney Lee is a mistake. Not only is CLee an excellent defender, but he is fearless, and got better every game. The magic are clearly trying to scramble, and made a quick move to counter the Shaq deal. The magic now have to room to re-sign Turk now though, and a starting line-up of Nelson-Carter-Turkoglu-Lewis-H oward is pretty star-studded.

Vince can penetrate, but he has always been jump-shot happy. This is something I believe Stan Van will be able to deter him away from with his coaching style, and bickering in the media. VC still has at least two more good years, and can really help the scoring load for the magic. This is a win/lose situation for the magic, but I think it will end up being good, Otis really does know what he's doing.

Now the magic need to find some help off the bench with only pietrus, AJ, Jeremy richardson, and Ty lue remaining. Who's available for the mid-level exception?

This deal is next to genius for the Magic, especially if we manage to somehow keep Hedo.

We loose Lee, who is a decent player with lots of potential, but he won't help us get back to the finals next year. This move makes us a contender against a healthy Celtics team or a Shaquadelick Cavs team.

Carter also gives us that one guy who isn't afraid to take over the game and be the guy with the ball in his hands. He's a natural leader, which is something that this team lacks.

Plus, who can deny the showmanship?

I'm truly glad to see the Magic get rid of Rafer. It was time for him to go, and I honestly didn't expect them to pull off such a big move. We will still need to make some moves as Gortat (and probably Hedo) leave. I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade J.J. for a couple of guys or so. We really need a big man.

All in all, great trade.(NJ gets the cap relief and Lee gets a team where he can play more of a dominant role... good for him)

Go Magic!

basically it comes down to this:

are the magic owners willing to drop more money in the tax to re-sign turk?

Why not sign & trade Hedo add Rafer for VC and Ryan. Makes the $$$$ more even.

I hate losing Lee, but Love the fact that Turk is gone now. We need a true power forward to help shaq on the boards. Sign Brandon Bass and resign gortat and call it an summer.

Best team we've ever had.

Will miss Terk if the trade happens. As far as the Shaq trade goes I think Cleveland is going to be the loser. Shaq was a great player, once, but now is a has been. He can't win unless one of the younger stars shine for him. Can't wait to see him fall on his butt in Cleveland. Shaq just wants to ride James' coattails.

no. no. no., no- why bring a has been, Vince Carter, a player at the end of his career, and give up a young and promising player, Courtney Lee. Tha Magic are notorious for making these kind of deals that turn out bad, Rashard Lewis & others we have traded, Shaq & many others who now shine in the NBA. Another bum deal

To add to the above... I really hope we keep Anderson. He has a rather surprisingly good rookie year and a shooting big man can really make things happen for our bench.

I'm okay with this as long as we hold onto Courtney Lee. Vince has been injury prone his whole career. Give up JJ, but not CLee....
Vince has actually played at least 76 games the past 4 seasons. Hate to give up C. Lee, but you have to give up something to get something. I love it! But there is more to this. The salary numbers don't add up.

I am quite shocked over this, and frankly, the Magic seemed to close the door on Turk with this deal, as well as losing a great, upcoming player in Lee. Carter doesn't play defense, and relies on his jumper too much. Not sure how he'll mesh with SVG, though maybe a real contender will excite him to play a better all around game, especially uptempo.
The bench is now weakened. Don't tell me you feel good with AJ as the backup PG. I don't know much about Anderson, but he will have to contribute.
All said, I think the Magic will regret this one, unless they know something we don't. Otis is now on the hot seat.

silly...vince is past his prime...getting rid of courtney lee is a mistake...magic will not do as well this year...too much tinkering with the chemistry of the team.

This deal will likely work out either really good or really bad...time will tell....I'd like to see us sign Hedo also, but it may be impossible, and there may not be enough basketballs on the court for everyone anyway if we did....

Won't have money again until 2011. Kiss Bosh goodbye with this trade. I love it though! But losing C. Lee bites!

Looks like Rashard is going back to the 3 unless they plan on playing Pietrus at the 3.

I think a deal for a PF is in the works. Only have the mid-level exception left now.

I am so sick about this deal. After an unbelievable year with a great team we make such a huge change for an old guy? Come on Otis what are you thinking? We finally hit a good draftee with Courtney and now this? He worked so hard for us this year only to be thrown away. We will regret this decision greatly. Biggest mistake Otis can make. I can not believe Vanderweide would go along with this. Absolutely sickening.

I just can not fathom why we would get rid of Courtney Lee - a guy who was starting for us

I had a feeling he was going to end up here!!!!!

This should put us over the top. Forget about Hedo, resign Marcin and we are set!!!!!

Don't like Lee being included...this will be an amazing trade if they bring Turk back. I read they wouldn't be discouraged by the luxury tax to bring him back.
Howard, Lewis, Turk, VC, would be crazy not to like that.
Only Courtney showed so much promise. Can't get something for nothing...Magic get 21pts 5rips 5a's though.

Trading Courtney Lee is the stupidest move ever... Otis will regret this for years!
