I have lived in Wyoming much of my life, but somehow have been a life-long NBA fan. I have become a little frustrated with the popular notion that the Spurs are "boring". In my opinion, the play in the NBA may be better now than ever. As always the NBA has the greatest players American can produce, but the world has adopted the game and has virtually caught up with us. There has to be more great basketball talent today than at anytime in the sport's history. Put in a historical context, the Spurs are fantastic. The Spurs play like fans and the media claimed they longed for---old fashion teamwork, selflessness, hardwork, and humility. Causual sports fans may only want spectical but real basketball fans can not find the Spurs boring. The finals were not exciting, but that is only because it was perhaps the biggest finals mismatch ever. Vegas probably would have made at least 6 Western Conference teams the favorite over Cleveland. What is the most impressive thing to me about the Spurs is not the 4 titles, but for how long they have been very, very good. They are but a foul call, an injury, and a .04 second shot from maybe having 3 more titles over a decade. That is true because of the front office and the relentless string of good moves they have made. That is the key for the Knicks. I love tradition and want the Knicks to come back. The Knicks and the NBA needs to realize that no one or two slam dunking superstars are the way to the future. The right future is the approach that made the Knicks, Celtics and so many other great teams great in the past. They played very much like todays Spurs.
