DePaul fans why are you not demanding the immediate firing of Wainright? This guy is as such hack coach. I wouldn't want him coaching a high school team. Why don't you go right to the president of the school? Where is Ponsetto?Where is the media in this town to question this disgrace of a program? I haven't seen one column about it in either paper.

45 POINTS ARE KIDDING ME!!!! 18 for 36 from the three point arch! JLP has got to fire this freaken Cartoon Character, Elmer Fudd was a better coach in Space Jam than this guy. The kids have quit on him a long time ago, he has no idea what the heck he is doing, hes embarassing the school, himself, and the kids. DePaul is losing money on this guy because the fans have quit on the team. He has 0 expectations. DePaul has plenty of money to pay up for a quality coach whether its a young up and coming coach(JANKOVICH, Anthony Grant at VCU, Sean Miller at Xavier, Ben Jacobsen Northern Iowa, or an established coach such as Steve Lavin out of the tv studio, Jeff Capel although why he'd leave OU is beyond me!) If WHITESELL AND LOYOLA can beat a ranked Butler team at HINCKLE why the heck cant DePaul beat RUTGERS or Seton Hall at home! Jerry they have defensive drills out called "Shell" "Alley Drills" "WAR DRILL" " RECOGNITION AND PROGRESSION"! Im a send you my book that i wrote full of drills!

People don't even care enough about this team to call for Wainwright's firing. This is how bad it has become.

It's true. The media have been mostly silent. Sad, but it appears that a once respectable program has become irrelevant.

After my wife and I dropped about $1000 shopping over the weekend (and on dinner). I suggested taking Louisville -24 for $1000 to re-coup our losses. Of course the wife wanted nothing to do with it and I, of course said after the game, "told you so."

They are a joke. We do need a stud coach to turn this around. The problem is it will take at least 3 solid years of strong recruiting to fix this mess. They need to get another TV contract with WGN (although the contract with the Big East and ESPN would probably prohibit this).

As a kid I would schedule my weekends and nights around the Depaul game. Now, I am embarassed to bring my boys to the game (3 and 5 years old). Even they think they stink.

Gosh, what has happened to my DePaul. DePaul and the big East are not even on the same plain in terms of basketball. DePaul has become the Washington Generals. Dar Tucker most likely is leaving DePaul after this year so Wainright better think of something fast. First off, get a %$&^@* stadium on campus for the Demons to play in somehow some way. Only this move will start the ball rolling the right direction. Please, Ms. Ponsetto stop this no pulse basketball program from continuing.

Ways to Fix DePaul (Men's) Basketball:

1) Drop out of the Big East, and rejoin Conference USA.
2) Move the home games back on campus. 8,000 seats filled on the LPC looks a lot better then 8,000 filled and 12,000 unfilled at Rosemont.
3) Fire Wainwright- nice guy, but there was a reason he was coaching at Richmond at his age. You went cheap after Leitao, and got what you paid for.
4) Play all the college teams in Chicago, and establish dominance. Then start picking fights with the Illini, SIU, and Purdue. Retake recruiting advantage by building a buzz.
5)Find a coach that can recruit. Pat Kennedy could recruit, but couldn't coach. Leitao, as Virginia is finding out, was the opposite, and Wainwright can't do either. Isn't DePaul due?

We all wish DePaul had an arena on campus but any hope of that ended when they tore down Alumni Hall and built the student center. They could have put that student center anywhere west of U-Hall?, but oh well, there's nothing you can do now.

As for this season, how sad is it that NU and LOYOLA get more press than we do? Loyola beats #15 Butler...DePaul is the doormat of Chicago Div 1 programs (and NU, Loyola and UIC all have higher RPI's)

Obviously, we're out of our league with being in the Big East, but right now, we'd suck in CUSA too. JLP, please fire Wainwright asap!!!!! This season has been a waste of time.

Yeah. That'll help. Triple our travel costs, cut our TV revenues by 90 percent and re-join a completely weakened, one-bid league where the closest opponent is more than eight hours away from Chicago. Brilliant!
2) Move the home games back on campus. 8,000 seats filled on the LPC looks a lot better then 8,000 filled and 12,000 unfilled at Rosemont.
And this arena would go where, exactly? And would be built with what money? You realize you're talking about a $200+ million dollar investment, minimum. That's two-thirds of the entire university endowment.

And if an on-campus arena was the solution, then one would think that Northwestern, Loyola and UIC would have historically been much better, yes?
3) Fire Wainwright- nice guy, but there was a reason he was coaching at Richmond at his age. You went cheap after Leitao, and got what you paid for.
Yeah, DePaul "went cheap" by not giving a $250,000/year raise to a guy who had just guided the team to an NIT bid after a 16-5 start where the team should have been a lock for the NCAAs. DePaul wasn't in the Big East yet, so a $700K/year deal ain't that cheap. Jerry walked into the Big East as the league's 7th-highest paid coach (out of 16). Cheap, my foot. Spending money ain't the problem.
4) Play all the college teams in Chicago, and establish dominance. Then start picking fights with the Illini, SIU, and Purdue. Retake recruiting advantage by building a buzz.
Yes, because that win over UIC certainly helped to "establish dominance" this season. And I'm sure all this program needs is a few victories over Chicago State to get going...

I wouldn't hold Loyola up as some sort of shining example here. They lost five of their last six prior to their upset win over Butler, including a 24-point loss against to a 7-19 Valpo team Friday night. They got hot against Butler and played a great game. It happens. No need to make more out of it than it was.

And this team, bad as they are, would most certainly not be struggling like this in C-USA. You're talking apples and oranges here. Do you realize how bad that league is, aside from Memphis? I think this is one lesson that would serve DePaul fans well as we (hopefully) get a new coach in... our numbers in C-USA were inflated, due to the level of competition. There are no Southern Mississippis, East Carolinas or Tulanes to help get you easy Ws in the Big East.

I have been demanding that wainwrong and ponsucko get fired. No one listens to me. The media doesn't care about depaul because this school hasn't had a respectable team since the 80's.
