I agree with Kravitz on O'Neal. He's been a team player from the start and it's a shame he's got to go, but he's got to go.

The only way i see J.O. going is if we could get Some ptp's but we wont trade him if we do we'll get screwed...where the glory trades of old Mr. Walsh??? we need a miracle...i think the pacers are paying the price for us to be world champs in the football world...lol

Keep O'Neal. Get rid of Carlisle. He'll never win and proved he could not both here and in Detroit...with truly a championship team...not the Pacer pretenders.

Let's get one thing straight. The Pacers don't 'owe' J.O. anything. All this bs about them needing to do this or that to appease him, etc. is ridiculous. He's been paid about '$250K' PER GAME the last 3 yrs (while missing about 30% of them btw...). Pacers' mgmt will decide J.O.'s future, not J.O.

Oneal needs to be dealt, but the Pacers have to wait until the playoffs are over. Teams always get desperate after they have just lost in the playoffs, and they are more likely to make a hasty move.

I think the obvious thing to do would be to attempt to trade O'Neal, and possibly other players/draft picks, to get the number one pick and draft Greg Oden. He's an Indiana guy, which will automatically put fans in the seats and regain some of the fan base, and he's the type of player that you can build a franchise around, with a very long career ahead of him coming in at only 19 years old.
Then if it's possible, possibly make a seperate trade to get a later first round pick and try to get another long term player who can complement Oden, possibly a point guard.

You were right again Bob. I have been saying all along, Walsh is awful, Bird did better as a bench coach. Much like my beloved Chicago Bulls, they couldn't begin changing direction until GM Jerry Krause was out of the picture. Pacers will go nowhere until Walsh and Bird get out of the picture. Rebuilding will be a long arduous process. Bulls missed the playoffs for six consecutive years. You might as well get ready to see empty seats at Conseco Fieldhouse for most of the next decade.
