I'm sure that this blog will turn into all sorts of ugly statements, but the only thing that I want to know is:

If you've got a guy (Pacer's player or not), popping off shots,(into the air or at someone), wouldn't that constitute some sort of "duress per minas" (legal definition: Duress per minas, which is either for fear of loss of life, or else for fear of mayhem, or loss of limb,; and this must be upon a sufficient reason. In this case, a man may avoid his own act.) that would constitute the protection or self,(or of his family member)?

In other words, if Stephen Jackson is shooting the place up, and in the moment of panic in trying to get the f*** out of there, this guy happened to clip him with his car, wouldn't that constitute "self-defense"?

I guess not... I had better remember that the next time I go out for a night on the town of drinking at shady establishments and coercing with shady characters. There may be a pistol-packing, fists-of-fury Pacer's player out there just waiting to FORCE me to hit him with my car and face up to nine years in prison for the act...

By the way, I love how Jackson states that he'll just "leave it in God's hands". I don't think that God was the one that decided he should get into a fist fight and shoot a bunch of rounds off after a night of drinking at Club Rio. I'm pretty sure that was one of those "Free Will" decisions.

Well, hopefully justice will prevail and the two pacers will serve jail time also. Lengthy sentences. it is time to teach these nut cases a lesson. Just because you are in a professional sport doesn't give you the right to abuse others. What the hell was Jackson doing with a gun in a public place and then, what was he thinking, oh I forgot, he wasn't thinking, duh, when he fired it? Obviously this guy had no regard for the safety of others. Please get this danger to society off the streets, rapidly before he kills someone.

It's a discrace to let thiss the bunch run around and give Indianapolis a bad name after the colts won the super bowl and done it with stile and being a class act in doing so. You know the colts came over here from Balitmore on the Mayflower maybe we cand find some place to ship the pacers off to on the Mayflower. We don't need them coming along and defeet the name that the colts have given to this city for their sportsmanship.

The Pacers franchise should be flat out embarrassed - having thugs and hoods representing their fine organization. Get rid of these jokers. It is far worse to lose fan support due to off court stupity than for losing basketball games. What is really funny is that Jackson references God in a statement while facing questions inconjunction to his role in a melee outside a strip club.

Thugs are on the corner selling drugs to our youth, thugs are holding up banks, gas stations, etc. Thugs are in jail for murder. I've been in plenty of bar brawls, it happens. I take care of my family and go to work everyday, so I'm a thug? These guys started trouble with the Pacers and they finished it...Get a clue and take you corny a-- back to Carmel.

This is a 23 poor black kid and his cousin with ONE ARM. How on earth is can a court convict this kid and sentence him to 3-9 over this. Jackson was shooting a freaking gun. What is an unarmed man supposed to do if he is behind the wheel and a man is in front of you pointing a gun. If Jackson gets out of this (which he surely will without jail time). It will truly be a travesty of justice. This is the type of things that make me embarrased to call myself a hoosier. I also find it interesting that Jamaal Tinsley is the one who threw the punch to start this fiasco as well. Seems to be a pattern with Jamaal. If he escapes prosecution from both of these incidents I will be truly ill. I will never attend another game until he is out of town. Patricia Gifford should be ashamed of herself for her disgusting actions.

This is total BS. Patrica Gifford should be ashamed of herself. This kid is a poor 23 year old black kid. Are we to really believe that him and his one armed cousin are going to start a fight with 4 6'4 or taller professional athletes? What sense does that make. If someone is shooting a gun in your direction, what are you supposed to do? If you are behind the wheel and a guy in front of you is pointing a gun, you get the heck out of there. This smacks of corrupt courtroom tactics and Patricia Gifford should be disbarred for convicting this poor kid. I will be truly Ill when Stephen Jackson gets out of this with a slap on the wrist and no jail time. I also find it interesting that Jamaal Tinsley threw the punch that started this whole mess. Looks like a pattern to me. If he isn't brought up on charges for one of these incidents the Indianapolis DA is a joke. This is the sort of thing that makes me embarrassed to call myself a Hoosier.

NO I think they need to trade the franchise to St. Lewis for the Blues NHL franchise because
A.The Atlanta hawks used to be in St Lewis

B.St. Lewis was next in line to Mimphis in getting the Grizzlies

C.The Blues Suck just like the Colts did when they moved here from Baltimore in 1984

D.Last year there was talk about moving the Blues Franchise

E.The Ice play a few games at Conseco, why not permanItALly turn it into a hockey rink

THEN I think we should trade the Indians AAA team for the Folrida Marlins and change the Name because

A.It's too hot in Miami for an MLB team, but not for a good minor league team like the indians (Stadium size)

B.Victory feild is a wonderful stadium that could be made larger housing the capacity of an MLB stadium.

C.Both teams are good

D.Baseball is popular in the midwest

E.the time is now to get a 3rd professional sports team, this state just won it's first national championship in professional sports in exsistance today and out of about the 26 states containg professional sports teams only five of them aside from us have 2 or less pro sports teams (Oregon, Utah, New Jursey, Maryland, and Louesiana)

AND BOTH TEAMS COULD BE A GOOD INFLUENCE ON CHILDREN UNLIKE THE PACERS PUTTING A HELL OF ALOT LESS PRESSURE ON THE COLTS in BEING A GOOD INFLUENCE TO CHILDREN. ALSO BOTH THE MLB AND NHL ARE ON THE RISE WHILE THE NBA IS ON IT'S BIGGEST DECLINE EVER.

I didnt say I was a barfly dip---- I said I've "been" in plenty of bar brawls, it happens, call me a thug and a loser if you want. I provide for my family and they know it. You want to see thugs go to the State Prisons. All these guys were drunk and got into it over a woman, it happens everyday, everywhere, even in Helltonville.

It might happen every day. But unfortunately for the kid involved he will have 3-9 years in Prison to think about it. Stephen Jackson on the other hand will probably get a fine and probation. No reasonable person can believe that this guy and his disabled cousin tried to start a fight with 4 6'4 plus ballplayers and thier entourages. They maybe talked smack. Jackson is the one who pulled the gun. That is the reason he was hit with the car. He excellerated the situation. Yet this kid has to go to prison for it. How can anyone call that justice. It makes me sick.

Mike from Indianapolis (big ups!) knows the score. I am so thoroughly sick of the ignorance and racism that courses through this message board. The writing itself is atrocious, both in content and form. Many submissions are semi-literate. I implore the writers on this board to think a little bit longer before they spill their racist hate, and also to use a dictionary and a prose manual such as Strunk and White's classic, "Elements of Style."
