I am a Uconn fan for the last 25 years, and for the life of me I cannot see him being any better at this point than Manute Bol was. He has the worst set of hands I have ever seen. He may be great , but right now his offensive skills are not there.

How is it a joke?...J.J Redick was named player of year in 2006 for Duke and was a first team all American..and he couldn't (and still can't) play a lick of defense. Hasheem Thabeet isn't a very good offensive player but at least he is functional on that end..He is the best defensive player in college..Defense is just as important as offense right??

Maybe you are right, but that doesn't mean he doesnt deserve to be an all-american.

Do you guys watch games? Against Lou (you know the number 1 overall seed) they stopped going inside against him. Against PC (a team that beat Pitt) they stopped going 10 feet from the basket. Ditto Marq and Nova. Cuse the other night got most of their regulation points on broken plays and threes. Pitt the second time around got nothing against him. Get a clue. People love bashing this kid, but meanwhile all college players have weaknesses. Although Blake Griffin (for college level) is one of the better players I have seen in a while. He rebounds and scores inside so well. I also love the Curry kid for doing what he does both undersized and with a weak supporting cast (almost beat National Champ Kansas single handed last year).

Hansbourgh-Not great on D, gets a lot of points he draws on fouls because of reputation

Blair-Sets a moving pick on every offensive possession. And not a great offensive player. Sam Young is much better player actually.

Only reason he is somewhat good is because of his height. Besides that he appears very clumsy. He is nobody special. I think 50% of the population would be as good as he is if they had his physical stature. This is why basketball is lame. Tall goons. Rather watch a bunch of 6 footers shooting and driving the lane.

.Thabeet couls have been 300% better if he went a diffrent college that had a true 'center's coach!....Calhoun is no center coach!.....Uconn will lose in the first round,,,,

What a bunch of idiots on this board. "Centers coach?". Emeka Okafor seemed to do fine.

And people who say he's bad only understand offense. His rebounding, shot blocking, and presence changes the game. And he's decent on offense as well.

People who say he's bad are the same mouth breathers who used to say, "Shaq is no good. All he does is dunk!"

A fan for 25 years and now your Jay freaken Bilas? Have you gone too or watched any UConn basketball games in that time? Saying someone is currently no better than Manute Bol but then saying he may be great is really going out on a limb. Trying to cover all your bases just makes you come across stupid.

AHAHAHAHA back my pathetic UCONN fan friend. I make over 6 figures and not only a fan of all sports, but the business side as well. Yes, he will without a doubt get drafted and make millions, but anybody with that height and heart could do the same thing. Enjoy their next win it will be the last. LOSER!!

Bill,

A red X is your reply? Someone with 25 years of experience and all I get is a red X? You are pathetic, you say you have a quarter century of first hand "fan" experience and you liken Thabeet to Manute Bol? I rememmber Manute Bol hanging out at half court while his team was on offense trying to draw an illegal defense technical foul. He was an absolute joke on the court, and Thabeet is currently no better than Bol ever was, but yet Thabeet may still be great. Fan of UConn, my a$$.

Let me lighten up things with a joke. Manute Bol was so skinny that when he played for the Bullets his jersey only had one pin stripe.
