St John's needs to bring a NY'er home to coach this team. Someone who understands the pressure of the big city.

Rick Patino or Bobby Cremins would be a nice place to start the return to glory.

Thanks for your recognition of America's best coach, but those of us who know and love Davidson understand that there are many compelling reasons why Bob McKillop will stick with the Wildcats.

This is not your father's St. John's, anymore. All of the alumni who got their degrees there now send their kids--and their money--to places like Siena, Fairfield and Marist.
When SJU rebuffed the rich Garden City guy's offer to donate $30M if they hired Matt Doherty for an unknown like Roberts, they showed their new mindset.

As a St.John grad who currently resides in Davidson NC. McKillop would be crazy to leave Davidson for St. John's. Those who believe that St. John's is still a major program, are the ones living in the past. They haven't been a bigtime program for 15 years now. St. John's would be better off leaving the Big East for one of the lower tier conferences.

He's not going anywhere...I live five minutes from the Davidson campus and it is a great place to live right outside of Charlotte. He's crazy if he takes the St. John's job. They do play in a better conference, but Davidson gives him the best situation for his family.

In the words of Chris Rock "Get a white coach" Life long SJU fan and hating the mediocre product they have put on the floor since well... the last white coach left. Roberts is a nice guy but d3 is calling his name.

He has too much class for the New York. He obviously is such a good fit for his present team.

Could not have been said better and to the point. SJU deserves and urgently needs a coach that can revive its current pathetic road path to oblivion.

The real issue for St John's is removing the president and having an individual (male or female) who reflects the teachings of the Catholic church clean the place up. Rmployeee moral there is almost as apathetic as alumni support. Norm Roberts has brought a class to the school few people ever will. The turn of that program started with Rashawn leaving to attend Duke and becoming ACC player of the year.

Fran gets fired for being a disciplinarian who gave Jarvis some quality athlete's. The Pittsburgh incident was magnified by the institution not giving due process to the alleged transgressors who saved themselves from jail by filming the real criminal. Can you say out of court settlements please?Having frat related deaths and unstable students bring guns on campus does wonders for recruiting too.

Norm will florish and overcome this burden in time. He is not the problem in the slightest. Mr. Roberts would be quite an upgrade for most programs.Upgrading the on campus facilty could start with the sound system that looks almost as ancient as it sounds. You can bet they will be playing in Brooklyn as soon as the Atlantic Yards facility is ready. Most important of all St. John's needs to restore the quality of it's acadmic name.

As a grad and former season ticket holder I share an embarassment with too many New Yorkers both here and across America. If Norm won millions of dollars in a lawsuit as the president did he would have given more to the students than this scam artist. In many ways he already has.

We were St John's! Get Joe Sciame to run the place. He knows where the bones are buried.

SJU has already said that they are bringing Roberts back
for next year, and that he's getting an extension.
Probably for the great job he's done.

20-46 in the Big East is enough to get a coach fired at any other Big East school. Why not ours?

Stephon Curry and Bob McKillop do not have to prove if they could handle playing in the Big East because they have already proved it. Curry may be the best player in the nation.

McKillop is yet another in a long line of mistakes made by the SJU administration. It's almost like they're doing it intentionally.

Ask yourselves the question; why would a top High School basketball player want to play in Jamaica for St John's. SJU will never be a top basketball program again. Time to get out of the Big East; why not join the MAAC and play the other local schools.

Starting with Carnaseca and his underlings, Rutledge and Mahoney let their personal feelings, mainly Carnaseca's ego interfere with getting a top notch coach like Calaperi. Fr. Harringon has shown that he could care less about the basketball team and it's tradition.
He ((Harrington) will only be remembered as the president who let the basketball program go to the dogs. Carneseca should stay away from the program and at 83, should start acting his age and go feed the pidgeons in the park.

He would be a great choice, but does he want to come to St. Johns? Facilities still need to be improved!!!

Derek Kellogg of Memphis would also be a great choice. Northeast roots, former point guard and not to shabby recruiter. But again, facilities have to be improved for any coach worth his salt to choose St. Johns!
