Ultimately, the problems with the Wolves run so deep. It starts with owner Glen Taylor who evidently is happy owning a team instead of wanting to own a winning team.

It flows from Taylor to McHale, who continues to live in the past, while trying and unsuccessfully creating the 1980s Boston Celtics. He forgot Larry Bird played two positions for them, point guard and small forward. The C's did not have to rely on Dennis Johnson or Danny Ainge for much because Bird did it all--dribble, shoot, dish, show up in the fourth quarter. Therefore, McHale continues to pass on acquiring a star guard, while settling on big men that are no where close to Bird's magic.

Then it bubbles up on Whitman--a guy who would have trouble succeeding at the 6th grade community basketball level. He has so little idea of what to do, when, and how to do it, that it is a miracle he hasn't lost this team yet. The Wolves will be so lucky to repeat last year's win total. But, you can not convince any of these three guys of this, and its too late to make any changes now.

McHale, please step down now. You had Kevin Garnett and you screwed that whole thing up. Don't try to make up for it now. We know you want to try to make things better before Hoiberg takes over, but it's ok, just quit now. You might screw things up even worse if you stick around any longer. Just go. Go back to Hibbing where you're just 'Kevin'. You'll always be a hero up there. Go fishing and hunting. Forget about trying to be VP of Basketball Operations anymore. You're not good at it. We know your ego will be hurt if you walk away from the team when it is so bad. You'll be ok. Hibbing is calling. Go talk to Glen now.
