Full story: Akron Beacon Journal

In all the talk about the Anderson Varejao contract situation, many fingers have been pointed at his agent, Dan Fegan, as a reason a deal has not been struck.

Whatever happened to Reghi? Well, last time I heard him, he was making a damn fool of himself attempting to announce MAC football. Awful.

varegao has a great fan base in cleveland and it's a shame to see him being so uptight about his contract terms. If he is really asking for 10M$ then i suggest he goes and fornicate his arse with the nearest stick he can find, coz for that money the cavs can get any big man who can actually score. I'd match any contract and throw him on the line to kill his market value, that's what i would do with varegao to teach him a lesson.

Find the Cavs one for $1 million? Ain't any to be had in the NBA. Sign the Wild Thing now or the Cavs may not make the playoffs this season.

He'll be back to gravy train Lebron... that whole team knows why they put up the inflated numbers they do. They play with the best all-around player in the league.

Grump... go back to Detroit, Boston or whatever other slum you're from. And when you get there, stop breathing.

I find it hard to believe they built a beautiful multi million dollar practice facility but then are not willing to spend the money to have a great team practice within it's walls! A team, now missing two key players, that had promising visions of playoffs this season, will now fall behind due to money!? What happened to the die hard fans that paid endless amounts of money to see these boys play ball!! Don't get me wrong, Lebron is a great player, but he's no Jordan and he can't carry the team alone! The money would be made up during the playoffs and one can't tell me that a long term contract is a burden on the team! These players are an assest! As a strong fan of basketball and the Cavs, do I think Varejao deserves that high of a salary, not really. However, if anyone really cared about the success of this team, a compromise would be made! Why pay players to play if you aren't paying them to win?!

Unfortunately, Ferry will have no choice but to sign these two clowns. When was the last time one of the two teams who played for an NBA Championship didnt sign 2 of their main contributors? Gooden, get your bags packed, LeBron get ready for the constant double team and Gibson- SHOOT AT WILL!! Nobody can make 10 mill sitting on the bench. The Cavs wont be back in the Championship with one shooter on the team! Get ready for another NE Ohio let down Cavs fans. LeBron may be the best all around player in the league, but not THE BEST PLAYER in the league.

Andy is not worth the money he is asking, he isn't even that good. Al he does is flop, he has limited skills, and can't even get a rebound when the cavs really need it. Pavs is a nice player, and of the two, should definitely be the one to get signed. I don't understand why these guys think they are worth so much when there is no money to be had on the market.

As a Cavs fan I would love to see Andy back but if he's not backing down from 10 million a year stance then hit the road jack and don't let the door hit you to hard in the you know what! The only Cav I would overpay for is Lebron. We already learned our lesson from the Larry Hughes, Donyel Marshall, and Ira Newble mess. Should I go on..... because their certainly more names on the list but wont go into it because it makes ill. The Cavs have Shannon Brown who will probably be a good player so Sasha is expendable. Sasha though is a nice young player who will probably blow up somewhere else! Whats new? But thats what happens when the team makes poor decisions and signs free agents to these rediculous contracts. Now the Cavs are stuck for a couple of years because of it and shouldn't compound the problem by making a rash decision. I sure hope Simmons and Dwayne Jones step it up this year in the frontcourt or the Cavs could be hurting right out of the get go. Good luck Cavs in defending your eastern conference title.

Precisely upon what are you basing your statement that Brown will probably be a good player? Are his braids sending out some sort of existential signals? He hasn't done anything to indicate he won't be playing in Europe by 2009.

I disagree with your statement regarding Anderson:

"Ultimately, because Varejao is the boss, that is why he is not in uniform right now."

This is totally not true.

Let's get it straight. Andy is a valuable player, great defense and assertive play. We have done way better with him on the team. With Andy not being here now, there is a big gap to fill. He does deserve more pay. He is worth it.
