Yes, UConn should have played "tougher", but was I seeing things or did Blair use his forearm with impunity to clear-out whoever was playing him (whether Thabeet or Adrien) as he pushed his way to the basket ...? And if Thabeet is going to be called for phantom fouls, he may as well get his money's worth next time they play.
Lol. The refs can see!! Nice try. Next?

So far, 73 posts with nearly all of them whining about the officials. But not one word so far about the flying elbow that put Blair out of the game for several minutes with no foul called. Yep, the refs favored Pitt. I agree that Thabeet's 4th foul was a bad call, but as my old coaches always used to say: "excuses are for losers! If you don't like the way the refs are calling the game, adjust to it." UConn failed to adjust, Pitt saw how the game was being called and took advantage of it. That's the sign of a good team.
Never played hoop, I see? Of all the things you can use on this board to pound us UConn fans, that elbow is the LAST I'd expect. They even showed you three angles on replay. Did you even watch the game?

Why am I still at work?

Look like Thabeet was thinking more about what he was going to get for his birthday rather than wining a important basketball game.

You better toughen up Thabeet, because the way Blair handled you last night, you can expect that every night in the NBA.

Pitt won and nothing can change that. However, anyone denying the fact that the flip was not intentional needs to look at the scene again... Blair held the ball in one hand and grabbed Hasheem's arm and held on tight with no move to let go... not very sportmanlike. The big guy is too nice and may never retaliate, his biggest weakness in the paint. Blair on the other hand should try out for the Steelers. Congrats Pitt, the W is on your side. Congrats UConn, only 2 losses so far isn't shabby.
What freakin' game were you watching? Blair had the rebound, Hasheem was reaching over Blair's shoulder and as Blair tried to ensure he had control of the ball, he ducked and, pity, poor Hasheem got taken down. Revisionist history from the UCANT fans!

I am not blaming the refs...but you also a fool if you think that their is not a reason Pitt does so well in the Big East in not in the NCCAs...they play thug ball..the way Jarvis's teams did in the 90s...and they also did not make it far in the biggest problem with the refs was they took Thabeet out of the game on that fourth foul..and ESPNs crew who was all about Pitt's aggressiveness said the addition...Uconn lost because Austrie screwed up a few shots when they were building a lead and because Fields knocked down two clutch for the crowd notice the reference point...the crowd was a good as it was in a long time in Hartford...even though 1 played 4 it was not as good as a Duke, NC, Mich St or Kentucky crowd on an average league night when...look at the front rows of old people and tell me if they stood more than 5 minutes...

How many times have I told you....lay off the weed this early in the morning!!!
Two "powerhouse" teams. Dunno...I only saw one.
I love the "bit more in the tank" comment. I don't think Pitt was under a half tank!
And last, but the best..."Either team could have won...", again, lay off the weed!
Who is this person that speaks to me as though I needed his advice?

So many nonsense posts. Like listening to an arguement in an Insane Asylum!
If UCONN makes their foul shots and doesn't have missed layups/dunks from Thabeet, Adrien, Robinson and Austrie in the 2nd half they win the game.
Give Pitt credit. They created chaos and played the game they wanted to play. They got the loose balls, and the second chance points and created more foul situations. First time all season the opponent had more FT's than UCONN.
No team has contained Blair with a single defender in a man-to-man defense all year. UCONN will need a better plan the next time they face PITT. Mix it up. Go zone, double Blair in the post, run some "junk" defenses. Not Calhoun's style, but you can't be so stubborn. Missed Dyson big time as a stopper on S. Young.

I can't vouch for the crowd last night, but listening to the game on the radio the ride home and watching it on TV, the crown sounded fine.

The Civic center was always a loud big arena back when UConn was just becoming a national player.

I remember back in the 90's that place would rock. The Kansas game when Moore and King were suspended probably was the loudest game I ever experienced there, or in 96 when they won the big east regular season and we are the champions was played.

The civic center can be a great arena with a quality opponent in town.

And the sound system at the Civic Center was always 10x better than Gampel. Is it still that way?

You're a dickhead. Pitt played a tough physical game. They played the game they needed to play. UConn is going to rebound from this. And if they don't you're still a dickhead.

Jim Cal-whine, crying after the game because Blair totally OWNED the 7'3 fact Blair not only owned Thabeet he owned anybody who tried to get physical with him. Total domination physically like this hasn't been seen since the Pat Ewing days, facts hurt.
