The Hard Truth

I really like Mr. Kahn for his honesty, but on one of his statements I have to disagree. He said that "You're going to love Jonny Flynn." I don't love Jonny Flynn, not as a ballplayer. As a ballplayer he seems to be a bit of a knucklehead and completely lacking in the court skills necessary to be a top tier point guard. I see him as the second coming of Randy Foye -- a "not quite" player who tantalizes you with certain aspects of his game, but ultimately has no real place on the court where he belongs. I hope we can get Rubio and put Jonny where he belongs: as a backup whose job it is to supply energy when needed. He certainly isn't a good decision maker as a passer or a solid shot selector. Essentially, he is a dribbler who wants to shoot and only decides to pass two or three beats after he ought to. A nice kid, a weak draft choice at the place he was selected, and no answer to the Twolves point guard problem.

The chance to play and actually contribute is what some of us have wished for Darko for close to seven years now. Too bad it had to happen so late in the season but better late than never.

I, for one, hope he stays in Minnesota and finally gets his career underway.

Darko can be a major player here, when he gets in shape and makes a committment to work with the coaches. He has the size, strength, and raw ability.

This is a typical game where the numbers in the stats column don't tell you the truth. I am not a big fan of Darko at all, but I do think he is a ok center just because he is a 7 footer, who quickly traps opposing point guard, big body that clears the paint. I was watching his game really closely, there is nothing special in his game, but half of rebounds that Kevin Love got, were because Darko cleared the space and let him get easy rebounds. How many times he changed the shot of Miami players those little things don't show in the stat sheet but anybody who played the game knows how important and valuable they are. Good game Darko again and I will be watching your game closely tonight as well.

Any win is a good win and it was nice to see Darko come out and play well again. Interesting that Jefferson sat 15 minutes of the second half while Darko stayed in, even tho it was obvious he was tired. What is nice about him is that the ball doesn't stick in his hands. It seems as if shooting the ball is his last option, not his first and because of that, the ball moves better and it gets to the open guy. Gomes will attest to that as he was the beneficiary several times of a play that started with Darko getting the ball out of the paint and moving.

Now that we won a game, I hope the peopel relying on the lottery don't come out of the woodwork and bemoan the fact that we are playing to win. How can a team get better by playing to lose. Throwing games for betting purposes is illegal. Losing games for the lottery isn't betting????? How else would you define it? You play for the fans, for the team, for each other - not ping pong balls.

If the Twolves wins the lottery to take J. Wall in the draft, watch for them to trade the rights to R. Rubio and take H. Whiteside.
