The Tiimberwolves are downgrading their salary cap, thats all. No one expects Johnson to be an NBA All-Star, not even the Wolves.

In a league, and especially a game, where you only can play 5 players at a time, it's vitally important to get the top talent players who can become All-Stars.

The Wolves continue to try to prove the experts and history wrong by selecting players that have nicer demeanors, but are lower level talents, with lower salary expectations.

I envision the Wolves will be leaving Minnesota sooner rather than later.

What do you expect from a team that let Bobby Jackson go....not even a peep when he retired last year...this team has been a classless act from its inception...Go Lakers!!!

A lot of moves with no progress. Can't we find someone to buy this team? Taylor was viewed as a savior when he came in, but time has shown him to be an arrogant cheater and a poor manager. The good people he hired or inherited are all gone: Flip, Mittchel,Fred, Bobby Jackson, Chauncy, etc.
Money and competance are not necessarily related.

Freeing up salary cap is just another way of saying your cheap. We never spend our salary cap anyway. As far as I can see we let Gomes go for nothing, he was a decent player. A lot of movement with no structure..again. What this town needs both in hockey and basketball is to stop hiring so called businessmen who suck and bring in some people that actually know the sport and want to win. They are just looking at all this as an investment in the fans. Do you think they actually care if we win or lose? heck no. I used to be a regular wolves and wild fan. I haven't been to eithers games in 3 years. Betty White could do better running these teams.

Why do they draft after the 1st round? For that matter why do they draft after the first 10 picks??

Are the Wolves clearing cap space for King James and his court?

I don't think the T-Wolves will leave. The league will fold 4 teams.

Wow, what a "letdown" draft. I have no quarrel with the pick of Johnson as he was the best player available at the time (the Wolves had pretty much said that they were not going to take Cousins).

As far as Martell Webster, all I can say is that the wolves must have been really, really high on him as they traded a superb shooter (Babbitt), and Gomes partially voidable contract, for him. I would have thought our combination of assets (Babbitt and Gomes) could have yielded more. I will say that Webster's style of play fits more into what the wolves say they want to be. Webster runs the floor well, plays pretty good defense, and has a pretty nice stroke. He will never be a star, but should improve now that he will get more minutes. I imagine that Webster will see some time at SF and some time at SG. Gomes had already hit his ceiling.

Hayward is a curious pick, as was the whole trade of 23 for 30 and 35 (which I didn't like). I have a hard time seeing where Hayward is going to get ANY minutes as he is only a SF.

The second rounders were, predictably, foreigners, who will be "stashed" in Europe while we see if they ever amount to squat (which they probably won't) and if so, then if they want to come here (which they probably won't).

A common thread in the Johnson-Webster-Hayward picks is that all are mature, high character, hard working wings that run, play honest defense, and shoot the ball well. What are we going for by the way......drafting the "All Nice Guy" team??

Draft grade: C- What started out with so much hope ended up with so much disappointment.

I wouldn't even want him if it was Tony Kukoc. Like a Tony Kukoc type is going to do anything to lift this team from the toilet. keep the european players where they belong, in europe. worst draft in the history of the team and that's saying a lot. we we're patient when you gave away Mayo, Roy, and countless others. Just sell the team and fold up shop if all your going to do is give away your picks so you don't have to pay them first round money. what a pathetic excuse for a professional franchise. Talk about going through the motions. Enjoy playing in front of no one. Does anyone still wonder why big name free agents won't come here?

Mr. Kahn will need to answer several quetions, namely why did you trade the consensus best shooter in the draft? A player who can get his own shot, shoot off a pick, or spot up? Why?

Oh I know it was trade. For what? Trade's sake?

T-wolves continue to underwhelm me! At this rate 20 victories next year would be totally unrealistic. I guess I will need to get the NBA broadcast so I can see some pro basketball as there won't be any in Mn. Draft grade D+ at least they got a serbian with a broken leg.

Is the NBA secretly planning on relocating a team to Europe to increase its popularity? If so, is Kahn working undercover for the NBA? I think a team with Rubio, Milicic, Pechovic, the "Tony Kukoc-lite", and a few other Euros (maybe even may a splash trade involving Jefferson and Flynn for Nowitzski) should draw well in Rome, Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam or wherever they may find a new home.

This should really help them achieve their ultimate goal, getting the most pingpong balls in next years lottery so they can pick some great players and trade them off for junk!

What a huge let down!

Why all the trades from every team? you have your draft lineup, you pick your player, hes on your team. If you dont like the player dont draft him.The NBA needs to change to NBE as in National Basketball Entertainment.

Joe and Emerson,
It's time to let go of your hard feelings about the Wolves letting Bobby Jackson go. He was a solid NBA role player who happened to be an ex-Gopher, nothing more.

Interesting and panicked comments on this. I'll be at Target Center this year. I've been as dismayed as many over the years. But, Kahn and Rambis clearly have a plan and they have telegraphed it more transparently than any sports team I can remember.

Overall goal was to be longer and more athletic, better defensively.

Center: Starter Milicic, backup Pekovic and maybe Hollins. Certainly an increase in size and athleticism.

Power Forward: Starter is Love. Jefferson tradedm maybe. Backups Webster and Hayward. Looks like the goal is being followed. Gomes is not athletic and Babbitt is a defensive liability based on other comments. New guys are said to be able to play defense.

Two guard: Starter acquired based off of Jefferson trade, Brewer and Ellington backup. Brewer was the most athletic of the team last year.

Point: Starter is Flynn and backup is Sessions. Next year looks like Rubio is in the mix. Maybe somebody is traded here or Ellington or Brewer is the odd man out.

SF: Big, big upgrade to Johnson. Brewer/Webster back up. Now Wolves are very athletic at this spot.

Maybe Jefferson stays and they sign a FA two guard.

I think Kahn is taking what he can get and took the risk on Rubio instead of Cousins who wouldn't come here to workout. And, Kahn is playing a role of recruiter with Rubio. That can make sense if that guy can become a big star. Johnson wants to be here. Flynn seems happy. Milicic is said to want to be here.

It may not work, but the strategy is making sense. Took the Twins some time to get there. Time will tell if these are the right players to build with. We're not going to get Lebron, etc. That shouldn't be a surprise.
