I think It has to do with this ridiculous playoff schedule. 7 games for the first round?
2 day layoff between games?
Common your robbing the players and the fans of emotion and intensity when you drag it out.

what next the playoffs in july! Wake up go back to the old schedule.

used to be a die hard NBA fan. Want to fix it?
Bring back action. At any given point I can flip on an NBA and be more likely to catch a time out or free throws than actual basketball. Take away some of those time outs ESPECIALLY AT THE END OF THE GAME and let them play! What a boring game when the coaches complain afterwards that free throws were skewed one way or the other. Let em beat the hell out of each other. It's not like these people are ambassadors or scientists. They're atlethic entertainment. Who cares what they think or say or do? not me.

Berger is overreacting. The East did win last year. I've always felt the NBA (and NHL) lets too many teams in the playoffs. Golden State should never have even had the chance to beat Dallas. But even so, I wasn't too interested in the playoffs and probably won't be unless the Knicks are in them. (Good luck with that) As for TV ratings, I think you have to realize that with digital cable and satelitte, the playoffs are competing against about 700 channels instead of 12. We have more opportunities not to watch them.
